Living in a hard water area, my taps, showers and boiler are plagued by bad limescale build up. If not managed limescale will continue to grow and cause longer term damage. Although this product works well at reducing the building of new limescale it's prudent to to remember that the balls are not a limescale remove and will not remove existing scale. This is a well known brand in the industry that is proven to be effective. I tend to refill my combimate about every 9-12 months on average. Given the modest price point, it works out a couple of pence a week over the life span of the balls. Great longevity and value for money. Happy to recommend

Have been using this scale remover in our water supply now for many years and find that it is quite effective. Cost goes up every year but thankfully it is only replaced annually. Happy with this product and the service from supplier.

I would definitely recommend this cheap, easy to use alternative to very expensive water softeners. It gets rid of 99% of Lime Scale without leaving a nasty smell like some others do. It is the most effective Scale-removing tablets I have used. This product leaves my sink spotless and shiny.

Good product. I've previously paid a heating engineer to install this product each year. Very easy to do yourself and save some cash. Remove the combimate cover by depressing the two red buttons at the side of the combimate. The cover then pulls off forward. This isolates the water supply and gives access to the dome containing the crystals. Place an old towel under the dome in case a small amount of water (half a cup at most) drips out. Unscrew metal ring anti clockwise.Pull dome forwards. Will be stiff but hand tight. Empty out old crystals. Replace rubber seal which is included in pack. Replace dome. Tighten metal ring. Now you can reove the cap on the top of the dome with the small red plastic spanner . Drop the crystals (silphos balls) in one by one. Replace cap. Push on front of combimate till it clicks. That's it. No need to prime anything. Check for leaks, which if the provided seal is inserted correctly there shouldn't be any. Takes 10 minutes max.

It's more difficult to handle, because it no longer comes in the form of balls, but more like proper pebbles (i.e. not because the balls broke into pebbles). The note in the box argues that pebbles is just as effective as the balls, but we will have to see.

This refill pack includes 2 large replacement 'O'ring seals, and also serial number stickers which you can use to register your refill pack with Cistermiser online. However it does not contain the smaller O ring for the filler cap; which you may have to source separately (if your's needs replacing). It's a popular misconception that the Combimate reduces or gets rid of limescale; actually it just stops it forming in the first place, by combining with the limescale in the water and making it slippery so it doesn't stick to the plated heat exchanger in your boiler / elec shower. If you've already got a limescale problem this won't fix it. (You should seek to have your boiler / pipes descaled). Fitting the Combimate to a new boiler / shower / system will keep it scale free. Cistermiser will actually provide a guarantee against limescale,. but only if you fit it to a new boiler/shower/system (see their website for full details). I live in a hard water area (290 mg/l) and have been scale free for over 2 years. I recommend this to anyone having a new boiler/system installed.
