Can the nibs be changed without taking the ink cartridge out.

No. The nibs are attached to the grip sections which each fit an ink cartridge. To switch nibs, you need to switch the cartridge to the new nib assembly or use a new ink cartridge with the new nib. That being said, the quality of the nibs in this set is much worse than Manuscript's other sets. They look good but are scratchy and almost impossible to use.

Any suggestions as to how to get the ink flowing? If not, these nibs are useless.

If you are using cartridges, check they are pushed in correctly, then if there is still no ink, hold the pen and shake it downwards with a flick of the wrist, with the nib pointing down, above some spare paper - the force of gravity will usually take the ink through and out of the nib. If you are using bottled ink with the converter (with a black twist top), once it is securely inserted, twist the top to squeeze a drop of ink down the nib. You could also try mixing a drop of washing up liquid in water and filling, then twisting the converter to squirt water through the nib and clean the pen. Just in case there is any manufacturing gunk left inside. I hope this helps.

All nibs I have tried keep blotting, do you have any suggestions?

Hi, it may be that you are pressing down on the nib too hard, making too much ink come out?

Is the 6 nib Calligraphers set suitable for copperplate style?

I am no expert but I think you need a flexible nib for copperplate. The Manuscript 6 Nib Calligraphers Set is for italic and round hand styles; the nibs are rigid and the thicks and thins of the letters are formed by the angle of the nib. The thicks and thins of copperplate letters are formed by the pressure on the flexible nibs used for that style; it's harder to do.
