I've uploaded a few photographs to show you how it looks. I've looked at this a few times in a book shop in Liverpool city centre and was really impressed at how it looks - feels and the absolutely massive amount of information it provides on every single page! It reminds me of the kind of book that you had as a kid that has stuck in your head 40 years later! It measures 15 x 11 inches. So opened up it's 22 inches wide so it's a nice big book! The pages are thick card and make a nice page turning noise and . . .this one smells like a book! Illustrations are brilliant! They look hand drawn but are very clear with good colours. The kind of things you will see in here . . . taking the UK as an example. - Capital city - Population - Most common girls and boys names - Languages spoken. English, Welsh, Scots, Irish, Scottish, Gaelic and Cornish! - Area in Sq Km/Miles - Scale of distance in KM/Miles - Landmarks - Historical persons of note - Major cities. These are depicted with an associated building or landmark. For Liverpool we see The Royal Liver Building. - Typical foods from the country - Sports and pastimes - Animals particular to that country - Mountains, ranges and major rivers, surrounding coastal waters - The flag. Union Jack here! All the above more often than not have a short but concise description of what they are. The few adults who have picked this up in my house and had a quick look through it have all said how good it is. The amount of interesting information any child or adult can pick up from thumbing through this book is amazing in my opinon. I never knew that Copernicus was Polish! I do now. This is a very well put together lovely looking keepsake book that I think any kid interested in maps, geography and the world around them will love! Money well spent. Review: Fantastic book for all ages - What a beautiful book! Spent hours already reading this with my daughter, who is aged 7. I’d say this is ideal for all ages, it’s very detailed with beautiful drawings, it also has so many interesting facts that will capture anyone’s attention. My daughter has been especially fascinated with what each country’s favourite foods / national dishes are. I will treasure this forever, and will be purchasing another for nieces and nephews and my sister who is a school TA.

Most favourite book - absolutely recommend
This is absolutely worth buying. My son still loves it now he’s 13, and loved it when I first bought it for him when he was about 4. It’s a beautifully illustrated picture book, which still has pride of place in his room now he’s a teenager. He has spent hours looking at the pictures and talking about the places. I’ve bought it several times since, as gifts. Love love love it. Every child should have a copy.

Would make a great gift to little explorers
I wish I could give this more than five stars. It's a beautiful book which now sits pride of place in our home. Full of amazing knowledge and presented in a very engaging way. Myself and my 3 year old have spent hours pouring over this, using it as a great spring board to explore the world. I've even learned quite a bit myself thanks to this book!

Brilliant book
This book catches your eye instantly. I regularly read it in shops so decided to save myself the time and get one to read at home! The illustrations are beautiful and very informative. I do find it overwhelming to sit and read through in order as there are so many little pictures and bits of info you are bound to forget (maybe I just have a bad memory!). But it's perfect for when you want to find a bit more about a specific country, or are travelling somewhere. As other reviewers have mentioned it doesn't include every country but it would be rather huge if it did so I can see why. This book would appeal to all ages. I am in my 20s and bought it primarily for myself but everyone who sees it on the coffee table wants to take a look!

Lovely book to engage children and adults
I bought this for my 8 year old niece and she loves it! She insists on going through one page before bedtime! I personally thought it has too many pictures and names without explanations, so wasn't sure how useful it would be. But well, she finds it exciting and colourful and a great way to learn!

Best map book ever
This is an amazing book. It cover a lot of countries (but not all) it has detailed maps with small pictures to illustrate. Covers National foods, monuments, names, places, traditions. I absolutely love it and so do my kids. We love looking at different places. We were also super excited as the first five pages are places we been, plus a few others.

This is an outstanding book for anyone who wants to introduce their children to the world. Made in the lines of a traditional atlas, Maps, has been illustrated with painstaking detail and will cause children (and adults alike) to ask questions about what they see. This is a large book and will easily be the largest in many home book collections. Wonderfully produced this is a must for anyone who wants to get their children to be curious about the world.

I love the illustrations and how the countries are described. I just don't give 5 stars because there are a few countries missing on the map and if you or your kid is from that country, it can be confusing.

We have already bought the special edition with some extra map. Bought this earlier thought I have missed out them in the special edition so hoping to see more south east asian countries in this earlier version however there was none. I didn't miss out but there is no maps on Singapore and Malaysia. Nonetheless we love the illustrations.
