Her grandfather was an organic farmer and her grandmother was an herbalist. Her mother is a certified nutritionist and taught Rens everything she knew about healthy and delicious foods. In her village, they were known as the progressive and food-conscious family. In her early 20s, she started working at an obesity clinic where she learned about the psychological side of eating. Slowly but surely, she came up with the idea of starting her own food-coaching practice. She ran the practice with a small team for two very enjoyable years. In the meantime, she's started her blog, renskroes.com, and written four bestselling cookbooks. She’s a proponent of unprocessed, whole foods – power food, as she calls it.
