brilliant combination of tablet and pc functions
I bought this after my old laptop died, looking for something with tablet touchscreen and aps and portability but with the stronger memory and Microsoft office programs of a laptop. the surface meets the criteria. I'm not expert but it suits my needs. Quite heavy and bigger than most tablets which is good for screen size but less handbag friendly. It would have been nice if the edges had been more smooth in design for better handling and the main external material gets very sweaty when held. Needs a case. Being the size and design it is, its quite difficult to find cases on the market to fit it though. The keyboard is strange to get used to, and an unusual tactile material, but the screen width makes the touch screen keyboard very easy to use. There are newer models which I'm sure are better but this one is great for the price. Would recommend to windows lovers.

not as good as the iPad``
Our lad had this for christmas and he loves it. My partner had an iPad and has struggled to use his surface. If your used to an iPad or iPhone this may not be for you

very happy
Very happy with my surface, smooth to use very quick and easy responses. Its bright and colourful, so is fun to use. Lots of apps to choose from which is good how ever some could be improved. Only thing I'd say as a bad point is getting around the new windows 8, it takes time and I'm still figuring out how to do things, but once you know how it's excellent.

Really bad idea
I bought this tablet as it had a USB port. It has been a disaster from the beginning. The battery life is short, it is fiddly to plug in, applications are few and inefficient,and Word keeps crashing. Don't waste your money, compared with my Apple I pad which cost about the same it is just not in the same league. I regret having bought it.

ok..
It was okay for the first 6 months, but now it freezes and closes the program frequently, I also can't watch videos because flash player doesn't work.

Microsoft Surface
Surface bought for my wife who uses windows on laptop so did not want to have to manage two different systems. It is a hit as it is in use for much of the day and works very efficiently. Time will tel as to how easy it is to transfer material between tablet and laptop.

This is an excellent machine and one that I can't recommend highly enough. It sets up in minutes with the minimum of fuss. Highly recommended.
