40m Auto Reel

I first bought the Hozelock Auto Reel 30m back in 2011, and it has served me well for 14 years. It still works today, but the reel no longer locks in place and rewinds itself if disturbed. When checking my order history to determine which variant to buy, I realised I had the 30m version, but the mounting bracket on the new 40m model I just purchased, despite being longer than my need, is identical — a big plus, as I didn’t want to drill new holes. In fact, I didn’t even need to swap the bracket. In everyday use, these auto-retract hoses are a real time saver. Once you’re finished, the hose rewinds neatly and effortlessly. The hose quality is excellent too, and my original has certainly proved its durability. There’s also a provision for a padlock to prevent “permanent borrowing.” I fitted one years ago and had to cut it off recently because it had rusted solid — a sign of how long this reel has lasted! Overall, I’d highly recommend this product. Fourteen years of reliable service is impressive, and I’m confident the new one will be just as good.

This hozelock autoreel is just fantastic. This is excellent value for money.This has an automatic rewinding mechanism inbuilt. It has a kink resistance built in the hose. The design of this has clean lines to it. It fits in my garden so nicely, i love it.

Just installed this yesterday. It is a nice robust item. My advice is to get your own good quality screws as accessing the screws when installing is tricky, and the screws which come with the unit are poor quality, so will damage very easily when under pressure from a power driver. Installation is not as easy as made out, you will need to allow time and have a very slim marker to mark the holes you intend to drill...I ended up having to use a kids paint brush and some paint! A traditional pencil will not fit through the mounting points on the unit. Get good screws - You do not want to destroy a screw halfway through installation!! Other than that, the unit looks great and does what it should. It's really tidy and has really cleaned up the side passage to the house which previously had trailing hoses and lots of related trip hazards.

This is the second one I have purchased for my parents. It's well made and easy to install.

Great item I wouldn’t say the instructions were the easiest to understand but got there in the end , it’s a great hose it replaced our old wall mounted that you had to wind up with the handle that finally snapped inside it was many years old but as a more elderly person it’s great that this hose retracts so easily well worth it .

Great product

Arrived in good time. Very easy to put up, providing you have a strong man to do it. I would suggest you do what we did, make a paper template from the swinging arm, then drill the 4 holes straight through the template into the wall. (It would have been better if Hozelock had included their own template). We did replace the 4 screws with stronger ones, and my husband also put nylon washers between the screw and the swinging arm, to save the screw crushing the arm, (again another thing Hozelock could include for next to no extra cost). I've tested the unit a couple of times so far - the auto reel facility will be a godsend to me. I've pulled the hose out to full length with water on, and inside the hose, then "walked" it back into the unit. The unit has a kind of hoop thing where the hose feeds onto the reel, which automatically moves back and forth, so the hose winds evenly onto the housing. It doesn't get bunched up in one place. I do have corners to go around, so should really order a couple of the corner accessories hoselock sell, but I'll see how I get on before going to that expense. Because of this, I found it quite hard to pull the hose, given that its rubbing on the corners of the house, quite hard, but not so you end up puffing or anything. In a straight line its a doddle, my granny could do it. Hoze lock only give you a basic sprayer at the end, infact its not even a sprayer, just a tap really, so you can't adjust the setting of the spray, or more importantly, turn the spray or water off at the end of the hose. I immediately replaced it with my usually multi spray hoselock gun, where you can turn the water on/off at the nozzle, so it wasn't a problem. Again, if you go to the expense of spending that much money on a hose, Hozelock should really provide an equally upmarket spray gun to go with it, not just the basic tap style one you get. All in all, bearing in mind I haven't used it much, I am really really pleased with this product. Its going to save me tons of time, not having to manually wind the hose, and will be a lot easier on the arms I would think. You will need someone strong to put up the hose itself. I could put up the arm easy enough, but wasn't strong enough to lift the unit onto the arm once I'd done it.

I am 70 and have owned many hose reels. This is the best. Light weight and so easy. I brought another one for my front yard.

Great hose reel and hose with quality second to none! The clever and nifty features such as removable fitting in the reel, lead hose cover, lockable features on the mount and main reel add value and convenience. The retractable and lock mechanism feels solid and works well. It also comes with excellent instructions and wall mounting kit - just 4 plugs and screws and you're good to go. I have used other reels before but the quality doesn't compare. I couldn't recommend this product any more.
