Yes. The lid turns to cover the spout. OK as long as the jug isn't shaken vigorously.

The narrowest part of the jug is the circular top, where the white lid fits into, it is aprox 2.5inches across inside. X

Q: Does the lid have to be removed to pour out the contents?

No it doesnt. It has an opening on one side and so can be turned to either stop or allow water to flow without removing the lid. Hope this helps :)

Q: can you pour the liquid with the lid in place ?

yes you can pour with lid as it has 2 positions when the lid is closed to stop any dust or dirt getting it is sealed but when turned to the open position you can pour the liquids out
