Yes, it is a genuine Norton and it does come with instructions although they are a little complicated we managed to install it ourselves and it works just great. The lengthwise whole spread on the main body is around 9". Hope this helps.

Q: This is to use for an entrance business door opening out. Therefore will be install on the door's exterior. Is it/ hardware water resistant?

Yes this is for a front door opening out or in it is reversible. No it is not water proof as you will not install outside !!! For a out swinging door you mount the closer to the header and the arm to the door all on the inside nothing mounts outside! If you know basic carpentry it is very easy to install.
