The Tryout: A Graphic Novel [Soontornvat, Christina, Cacao, Joanna] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Tryout: A Graphic Novel Review: Gift - Gift for 8 year granddaughter. She loves to read and is in cheerleader. Perfect gift for her Review: Fun, positive, smart memoir - Fun, smart, nuanced take on social acceptance or lack thereof which has a positive attitude without sugar-coating. Worth reading for all ages. In particular it's nice to see a book that doesn't lean into the stereotype of cheerleaders as evil, nasty people that has become such a cliche nowadays. Meanwhile, note that the 1-star reviewers (as of the time I write this) are lying. Not only is there no anti-Christian hate in this book or anything that could honestly be construed as such, but the author speaks appreciatively of her experiences attending Christian church growing up. ... she also attended services at a Buddhist temple, however, and as a child positively compared the social messages of Jesus and the Buddha and wondered if it was really necessary to choose between them. So now you know where the 1-star reviewers are coming from ... I would encourage everyone to report false reviews, as they violate the terms of service.

A nice read!
Christina Sooritorrivat was entering the 7th grade and she wasnโt quite fitting in. Well, to be honest, she never fit in. When the other girls were flashing their sports bras, she was still wearing T-shirts over her flat chest. Sigh! She had to deal with so many racial remarks and stereotypes that she was dubbed โRice Girl.โ Good thing Christina had her friend beside her. To help fit in, she and Christina decide to tryout for cheerleading. Christina wasnโt that bad, but then her friend ended up being better. Tension results when Megan chooses someone else to be her tryout partner. Oh boy. A wonderful story that says itโs okay to be different. All you need is to put your game face on. After all, every ending has a beginning. A nice read!

good for kids
Itโs a book about the fact that it doesnโt matter where you come from it matters how hard you try.

Captivating Story and Stunning Artwork โญโญโญโญโญ
The Tryout: A Graphic Novel is an amazing read! The story is engaging, full of emotion, and keeps you hooked from start to finish. The characters feel real and relatable, and the plot is both inspiring and exciting. The artwork is beautifully done, with expressive illustrations that perfectly complement the story. Itโs a graphic novel that appeals to both teens and adults alike, blending great storytelling with striking visuals. Highly recommend this book for anyone who loves compelling narratives and gorgeous artwork in a graphic novel format!

My niece loved this book. As a dancer, she could relate to some of the experiences in the story. She couldn't put the book down and can't wait to get the next book!
