I was skeptical that this product could work, but after several weeks of being kept up through many nights by the pacing and whining of my sixteen-year-old chow/pomeranian mix, I was willing to risk the $13.00 to try it. It worked very quickly -- by the second night after starting the supplement he was much calmer, both during the day and at night. After several days he was just about back to normal in regards to agitation, anxiety, and ability to rest. He is no longer peeing in the house during the night. Perhaps once or twice a week he'll pace back and forth by my bedside at about 3 a.m. to let me know he needs to go out, which is fine. Overall, he is much calmer, happier, and more well rested, and so am I. Obviously this product won't work for everyone, but given its modest price, it is worth a try for anyone living with an old dog struggling with behavioral changes.Update 7/11/2017: A couple of months ago the benefits seemed to be diminishing, although he was still not peeing in the house. His "sundowning" seemed to increase though. I still have him on the Cholodin, but have supplemented it with 5 mg. of melatonin and 1 Benadryl every evening. This "cocktail," along with daily exercise, helps him to stay calm at night and rest better.

This product has really helped my old dogs. I had a 16 year old dachshund that I had been keeping going and going and going with various natural and alternative and homeopathic remedies (she had Cushings Disease and multiple other health issues normal and usual for a dog that old). When she started manifesting Canine Dysfunction Syndrome, where she would walk in circles like she was lost, get stuck facing a corner just standing there, lost, it was really breaking my heart. I tried another product here on Amazon for this, and it helped, but was expensive. This product is sold by several different vendors I believe, and one of them sold it for a GREAT price. I ordered that one. When I finished giving the other, more expensive product, I started this one. I noticed an improvement very very soon. I kept my dog on it until she passed in June this year, at the ripe old age of 16 years and 9 months. During the entire time that I had her on this product - Cholodin Canine Chewables, she never once manifested senility. About 2 months after she passed, I noticed one of my other dachshunds start to manifest some of the senility symptoms that I had seen in my other dog before she got really bad, so as I still have 2 twelve year old dachshunds at home who are growing old together, I put them both on this product that I had left over. I noticed that the mild symptoms in the one dog disappeared and he went back to his usual mental alertness. So although they are both still manifesting the usual physical aspects of getting old, they are not losing them mental acuity. I will definitely be ordering more.

I read a lot of the reviews before I bought this product because it seemed to good to be true. Let's say I was skeptical but hopeful. I have an 18 year old Beagle/Dachshund (Ruby) who's been exhibiting signs of doggie dementia for a while now. Getting stuck in corners and under furniture, staring into space, going to the wrong door to go out, standing at the fence gate as if it's the door to come back in the house, walking in circles, sundowners in the evening, and pacing around restlessly in the middle of the night. I felt so bad for her.Ruby has been on this product for almost two weeks and I can tell a significant difference already. She's much more "with it". She's more alert during the day and is starting to respond to me again when I talk to her. She even barked at me yesterday because I didn't give her her breakfast fast enough. If you have a Beagle (mix) you know they like to vocalize. She hasn't barked in at least a year. It seems like some of her sassy, bossy personality is coming back.She also is more mobile and more active during the day. She's back to exploring the yard and sniffing things. She's using her tail again and is generally more interested in her environment than she has been for a long time. I'm hopeful that we might be able to resume daily walks.She's no longer pacing around the house in the middle of the night. She wakes up if she needs to go outside but then is happy to go back to bed.She's still a little restless in the evening in a sundowners kind of way but I'm hoping that will subside with time.Overall I have to say I'm astonished and that this product has been a real game changer for my sweet old girl. For the price there's just really no risk here. If you're on the fence, at all just buy it.

I bought this product for my 12 yo mixed breed dog who is dealing with GOLPP. This supplement was recommended to help improve the nuerological function and decrease the degradation of the neurological signals going to his back legs. He's been on it for a few weeks now, and I've noticed some improvement - he seems more spunky and less feeble, though we are still being careful. Most of his weakness is at night now, due to being tired. It's a stop-gap measure, but it seems to be helping. He eats it with no issues, though he did experience some hyper activity after the first week, I cut back his dose and he's much less zany. I would recommend for a senior dog dealing with this issue.
