I ordered this for my husband -- his hair is much thinner than it used to be and and he was interested to try this to see if it might be effective in helping his hair look thicker and fuller as well as preventing further hair loss. The main part of the product description seems to suggest that this product can be used alone. However, the lower part of the description (just above the reviews) briefly mentions a two-step program to combat hair loss (shampoo & conditioner from Rex MD). I can understand using this together with a shampoo as is recommended for many hair care products, not just those addressing hair thinning. However, once the conditioner arrived, the label on the product itself recommends other products as well without being specific (including some from Shapiro MD hair treatments). It also states that results can take four months when this conditioner is used in conjunction with these other products. I did not get a chance to order the shampoo, so my husband is only using the conditioner. He thought if the conditioner worked well, m he might invest in some of the other products. He does feel that this conditioner helps strengthen his hair although it doesn't seem to make it feel smoother or softer and it doesn't have much of an effect on fullness. In fact, it doesn't really rinse clean and it leaves his hair looking and feeling oily and a bit flat. For that reason, he chooses not to use it every day. This conditioner might work well for some people, but it does require a lengthy commitment to continual use and best results seem to be obtained only when it is used with other product. My husband feels that this product just isn't right for him and the price does seem a bit high. It is true that he only needs a small amount (he wears his hair short) and the 8-ounce tube will last a long time.

This is great! It doesn’t grow new hair but uses what you have. My husband has a widows peak and this thickened and strengthened his hair so well!!! It is best used before you shampoo. It helped him so much. This is expensive but worth it. Definitely recommend.

No idea if it works as I just strated using it, but I do love how it leaves my hair feeling. Not heavy, not greasy, not havibg fly aways. Hydrated and soft.

DHT is a hormone that causes hair levels in both men and women. However there are lots of causes for hair loss. How do you know if this will help, well, if you are male and experiencing acne, hair loss at the temple and crown, and have a receding hairline,or a female with hirsutism, polycystic ovary syndrome, or congenital adrenal hyperplasia and have hair loss on your head, these are signs DHT is contributing to your hairloss, so a dht blocker can help stop the loss. However, this does effect your hormones so should not be used by pregnant women.There are vitamin deficiencies that also cause hair loss- riboflavin, biotin, folate, and vitamin B12. I would add these to your diet for a couple weeks first, to see if you really need to take the step of engaging in long term use of pricey DHT blocking shampoo and conditioner to deal with your issue.As a conditioner, it is not impressive. It is a clay color and medium viscosity, and it simply does not leave that shiny, detangled, oh so soft feeling I want after using a conditioner. However, it requires persistent and long term use to be effective at mitigating hair loss.Therefore, I really only recommend this if you have tried supplementing your diet to make sure you are supporting hair growth with nutrition without results, and you have signs of DHT excess, and are willing to consistently use this either on short hair or in conjunction with a different conditioner for long hair, with this conditioner massaged into the scalp amd the regular conditioner detangling the ends.

I have taken to only using this conditioner once or twice a week. I think that as a treatment for hair loss I would have liked to see how it worked with the shampoo as well. I think the combination of the two might produce better results. When I first started using the conditioner I thought that I was seeing less hair loss, but as time went on I realized that as a conditioner it's not all that effective. I needed to use quite a bit and I had to add another extra conditioner to the ends of my hair. While I used this close to the scalp and the top of my head to get the full effect of the product, I found that my ends weren't as tangle free as I would have liked. I definitely felt like my hair was stronger and fuller but having to rip through the tangles was counter productive. So I think the ingredients are good and with the shampoo as well would be even better. Just a little more conditioning power would be good.
