8 months in
I walk an average of 100 miles a month for my job. Since November it's been in these. They're as light as my vans slip on shoes, extremely durable and comfortable. I still have tread but it's definitely worn down on the ball and outside heel of them. Zero break in time, very secure feeling. They're basically 8" new balances. The sole is a hundred percent more comfortable than my old altama maritime boots , and more durable than my Belleville 601zst's. They don't breathe as much as I would like, but my feet run incredibly hot. The value is really good too. 180 for a competent pair of boots. The black stays really clean looking, I was worried about dirt and water stains but these look as good as new. Sizing is pretty accurate but go wide.

Good Boot
This is a first impression review. So far they fit really good. They are extremely light. They feel comfortable. Will be putting these babies to the test this summer cutting and baling hay.

These are Money...... Awesome!!
Finally went back to my senses and went back to good ol' Danner's. Why did I ever leave?? I'm in the Navy and wearing the Type III. I purchased the Rocky SV2 RKC050 Special Ops Boot as authorized for the Type III but these are heavy and don't fit as well as I liked. I've never worn Rocky's until recently and I'm not a fan. At the end of the day my feet would hurt/ache. I started developing foot pain despite wearing inserts. Yes, these Danner's are not on the authorized list but I'll take my chances. I went ahead and decided to go back to Danner's as I wore Danner's when I was attached to the Marines and never had any foot pain or issues. These are great! As others have mentioned they are light (lighter than my previous Bate Lights Coyotes). These are the perfect "Garrison" shoe. I don't think these would hold up on rocky-tough terrain (maybe) but these are great to have for the office or back at the Base. Light and comfortable. True to fit as I wear a 10.5 wide and these feel perfect. I inserted Spenco inserts in them as well as even better! Color is great too as some have posted they were olive green but these are definitely Coyote Brown. Highly recommend these boots. One tip, wear them with your boot socks inside the house for a good 8 hours straight to make sure they fit and don't leave hot spots and if not you can return them. Amazon will not take them back if you have worn them outside. These do feel "broken in" out of the box.

Indoor or hot weather specialist
I've been wearing this boot for a couple weeks, so here are my initial impressions following a break in period. -This boot is made for folks working either in a hot climate or indoors. It's minimalist to the extreme relative to any work/duty boot I've used (more on that later) and has absolutely no insulation. If you live in a cooler climate and work outdoors, this would be a 2-3 season hot/warm weather option. I would consider it for what I consider cool days (upper 30s-50 Fahrenheit) but only with very good socks. And even then I wouldn't use these for an all day post. -Build quality seems to be excellent. As others have noted there is no support for the ankle, but this does help save a lot of weight. The nylon material on the ankle and topsole also breathes pretty well for a boot. The speed lacing system is excellent, just keep in mind that the lack of support previously noted also means that you'll need to fiddle with how tight these need to be laced in order to remain stable while not being too tight. If I have one big complaint about the boot, that would be it. Long term durability is unknown, but the boot appears to be built to the level of craftsmanship I expected when I ordered a boot that said "Danner" on the side. One nice design touch I wanted to point out is the soft mesh they used to line the top of the ankle. This helps to keep the nylon from digging in and also keep everything in place. -My biggest pleasant surprise has been the sole. I find it to be firm enough to hold up to a lot of steps, but with enough cushion to keep my feet comfortable throughout the day. The insoles are very Spartan, so if you typically need inserts or other support you will most certainly need them with these boots as well. The tread pattern has plenty of grip for "normal" applications. If your work takes you off of normal indoor or paved outdoor surfaces, you'll probably want something with more ankle support anyway. Overall, excellent boot that I would recommend to someone with a need for a very lightweight boot that can still take a polish. 4 stars instead of 5 due to the narrowness of their application and because of how finicky it can be to adjust tightness.

Best Boots I’ve Ever Owned — and Incredible Customer Service!
Best Boots I’ve Ever Owned — and Incredible Customer Service! I’ve been a Danner fan for years (the Reckoning was my go-to), but these Tachyons are honestly on another level. They are the lightest, most comfortable boots I’ve ever worn. Right out of the box they felt like running shoes, but with the toughness you expect from a duty boot. Perfect for garrison wear and “boots & utes” training — breathable, flexible, and no break-in pain at all. The little details set them apart. The paracord-style laces are genius — they have just enough stretch to accommodate swelling feet throughout the day. I liked them so much that I called Danner to ask about longer laces. Not only did they answer immediately, but they sent me two free pairs of 74-inch laces (for larger sizes). Who does that anymore? That level of customer care is rare, and it sealed the deal for me. To be fair, I wouldn’t pick these for deep field exercises or heavy ruck terrain — they’re built more for speed, comfort, and everyday wear. But for daily duty, training, or just needing reliable boots that won’t destroy your feet, these are phenomenal. Bottom line: outstanding product, outstanding company. Danner once again proves why they’re the gold standard in boots.

THE GREATEST BOOT EVER
Oh Danner, how you've changed my life...Gone are those treacherous days commenced by the donning of Standard Issue footkillers...Gone are the massive blisters that make me question the matter of life itself...Gone is my paralyzing fear of walking, running, or rucking for miles that seemingly never end. I have owned two pairs of Tachyons. I must have put somewhere around 300 harddddd miles on my first pair and have since put somewhere around 100 on my new pair. I have worn these things for long-distance runs, even longer distance competition rucks (the best boots you could ever have for the Norwegian FM), lengthy FTX's, airborne school, SERE school, and even at my wedding!...just kidding, nobody loves me :,( ... But I digress. My first pair wasn't even broken or anything -- I just lost them when I moved. I CANNOT recommend these boots enough. I have recommended them to every friend, mentee, and random passerby I've ever had/encountered. I've convinced so many people to buy these boots that Danner should pay me a commission. The pros are as follows: + SUPER lightweight. I have a pair of Hoka's and I'm pretty sure my Tachyons weigh less. + SUPER breathable: Don't you HATE wet feet? Whether you're a super-sweater like me, or just always seem to find a day-ruining puddle wherever you go, these boots will let you get dry quickly. Since they're so thing, they can't really retain water AND are excellent at allowing your feet to offgas a lot of that built up heat. + SUPER durable: As I mentioned above, these bad boys have yet to fail me. I'm not a mega-hooah, so I haven't gone through RANGER SCHOOL or selection, but these things have held up to everything that I've thrown at them. Even after 300+ miles they were still serviceable, if not a little beat up. Cons: + Not a lot of ankle support: I'm a big dude, standing 6'4 and 220-pounds. I don't have great ankles, but I've never had an issue with these. I'm only including this as a con because some of my weaker-ankled friends have mentioned that the Tachyons are bested by Garmont Bifidas in the uneven terrain of the woods. But seriously, I've done airborne jumps with these things with no issue; I've also crawled through all the inhospitable woods of the Great American Midwest and the Dirty South without any problems. I just wanted to include the disclaimer from my friends. + Not a lot of heat retention: As I mentioned above, these boots are pretty thin, especially in the uppers. While this makes them great for heat dissipation and rapid drying, it also makes them a mediocre choice for the cold. If you're frequently operating in a wicked cold environment, you'll probably want something like the Rocky S2V's -- which are practically ovens. + Iffy insoles: The insoles included in these boots aren't great. I did a quick swap with some Dr. Scholl's inserts from Walmart and BAM! the boots were perfect. I wish they'd have slightly better stock insoles, but nothing's ever perfect. If you're looking for THE BEST pair of ruck run boots, the Tachyons are your boots! If you're looking for a good pair of cool-footed garrison boots, the Tachyons are your boots! If you're working in wet, hot conditions, the Tachyons are your boots! If you like looking cool and feeling good, the Tachyons are your boots! If you...get the picture, these are THE boots for you. (PLZ sponsor me, Danner. I'll do any sport thingy you want for a free pair of Tachyons).

Excellent lightweight "sneakerboot"
While I still have to break these in and adjust the laces to avoid any hotspots, I am overall impressed with the initial fit and feel of these "boots." I can say for sure I could walk all day in them out of the box without concern. I say boots in parenthesis because really these are better thought of as sneaker boots in my opinion, they merge most of the best qualities of a sneaker and a military boot, and this makes them perfect for daily wear shoes for almost any informal activity. I feel like I am wearing just extra heavy socks with nice cushy sandals on. The lugs on the soles are way more aggressive than a tennis or basketball sneaker, but not as aggressive and deep as a proper wilderness boot. So these work perfectly for the suburban/urban jungles. Pavement, lawns, and all but the slickest and difficult wilderness terrain (dirt roads, beach sand, lawns, and trials should be better than fine). They won't track as many stones or as much mud between the lugs either. The sole is more or less flat and lacks a defined raised heel, or a gentle roll like most other shoes I like have. In this way, it is more like a basketball court sneaker or tennis shoe, and less like a soccer shoe or boot. It also doesn't roll as well as some other shoes I own The unpadded fabric thin upper doesn't really give me any of the support a proper boot gives, and I am a bit surprised how thin the upper portion really is. It has no stiffness at all and is made of somewhat crinkly fabric. This is not really a pro or a con by itself, it's a situational thing. In hot dry or muggy weather or when I want lightweight mobility, these will be great. They are just rugged feeling enough to deal with the most typical active lifestyle activity I participate in (biking hiking, and some martial arts). If I want extra ankle support or protection of my instep or ankles from brambles or prickers, these might get passed over for almost any other boot I own, but I won't deny that it would be easier to cover ground faster and longer distance with these on compared to say a rocky paratrooper or some other heavier, bulkier traditional leather boot that I often wear. The lack of a shank and use of lightweight fabric construction means less foot protection for really rugged environments such as a construction site. But for day hiking in moderately civilized locations, urban or suburban walking these are my new favorites. The slim design means I can tuck them into my pants for a casual look, or tuck my pants into them to create a great civilian tactical look without looking like I am wearing puffy hardcore jackboots. These won't be my wet snowy winter boots, at least not without heavy wool socks, as they are not really waterproof. These are designed to be wicking boots that dry out, but that means they let water in and out more freely. So hot humid or dry warm environments are AOK. So, Depending on where you live these are 3 or 4 season boots. These are going to replace my Danner Kinetics in my EDC/casual hiking footwear category, they are cheaper and lighter though a bit less protective. They lack a side zip, but they slide on and off and tie so fast if you know how to do it, it's not that big a disadvantage, get up literally 1 minute earlier if you find it makes you late for work haha. Anyway, If you are looking for a good sneakerboot for your urban, suburban, indoor-outdoor EDC purposes. Something more reliable in rough situations than a pair of sneakers, but not as heavy, bulky or clunky as a more rugged heavy leather combat boot. If you are looking for a daily duty boot for walking a beat that won't fail you if you have to kick in a door, but don't plan on wading through thorn bushes and rusty nails all day. If you like the look and sound of them, I say give these a try!

are these supposed to hold up?* 3 MONTH UPDATE*
OK. First, I got a 1/2 size smaller than what the size I wear in sneakers, which seems to work most of the time I buy boots. They fit well. I am going to wear these in wet/dry conditions all day for work out in the everglades. If any place was made to kill shoes, it's this place. These boots are comfortable out of the box, and super light. The full synthetic design should help them dry out over night. Sooooo.... My biggest worry has been whether or not they would hold up, since they look and feel pretty cheap at first. Well... soooo far so good, but I have actually had a pretty mild field season so far and they haven't taken a super hard beating yet. I will say that they ARE doing better than I would have given them credit for at first. Soles are still intact, and the real cheapo looking stitching on the material is doing well. I am pleasantly surprised and glad they are holding up at 3 months. The only con so far is that the tread is very poor! You slip in loose sand, gravel, rocks, mud... come on! and I could see a nail going right through them like a cheap pair of sneakers. Soooo I would recommend these to people... but just because I like having more protection and better tread, I'm not sure if I'll buy them again. I would definitely never pay full price for these. I'm glad I got them using a bunch of points and free shipping, etc.

great boots at awesome price, fast shipping
i am a regular 7 to 7 1/2, but since only limited sizes are available at this awesome price, was tempted to gamble and hope they will still fit, and they do. Shipping was fast and effortless, boots look great and comfy and are way better that the cheap ones i got from china before. Im still looking for another bargain and get the remaining colors available.
