What I didn’t expect was to enter a state of obsessive spiral-based perfectionism. At first: “Ah yes, I’ll just make a simple pattern.” Ten minutes later: I am carefully selecting gears like I’m performing surgical design engineering. Twenty minutes later: I am fully emotionally invested in whether a circle should be clockwise or counterclockwise. Good, simple fun - bought because I remember how much I enjoyed it myself as a child. Children were fascinated by it and regularly get it out and use it.

Ideal gift for someone who is in between age groups of kids and adults. Great idea to get creative.

The patterns are as I remember as a child although the quality of the 'toy' is not. I remember having to pin the wheel down to hold it sturdy. I don't find this one very sturdy and if you hold with the 'gum' then it pulls the paper away when you try to release your design. I know it didn't cost a fortune, but my granddaughter wanted to put the designs she did on a board and she had to do lots in order to get a few that she could display. Also, the bar and the odd shaped internal wheel were close to useless because of their unsteadiness. I have mixed feelings about this set.

I was elated to discover a small business selling a game which I myself, had hours of enjoyment with as a child - my granddaughter will be elated ! Everything was well packaged and arrived on time . So , if in doubt of what to buy , you honestly cannot go wrong with this . Enjoy !
