Most Excellent Choice
There is a lot of really good information about this product in these reviews and I'll add my two cents worth. Personally, I was pleasantly surprised that it was larger than I had expected, given the product photos. It IS, as so many people say, very durable and well-made. It was intended for hard use. Top notch quality. The size did change my perspective. I was intending to put it to use as a small survival kit for the outdoors, something I could wear on a belt or over my shoulder, or throw into a backpack. I never go into the woods without wearing a day pack anyway. (All the stuff that goes into this pouch was already in my main pack.) What a great surprise to find that it can hold more than I thought! This pouch offers me more options. First off, it CAN be worn on a belt because the hook and loop patch acts as a belt loop. It will accommodate a belt up to 1 1/2" wide. However, once loaded down with stuff, the pouch might be too cumbersome / heavy for some peoples' tastes to be worn on the belt. Sturdy D-rings allow the use of a shoulder strap (not included), and a long, adjustable nylon strap makes for an easy "Indiana Jones" style carry. So, once camp is made, if you want to leave your main pack with the shelter and head out to forage, you can don your strap, throw the pouch over a shoulder and go. This pouch was well thought out. Lots of connection options from MOLLE methods to stuff with pocket clips. The exterior bungee (which sits over the hook and loop patch) can be used to secure plastic bags for gathering food or fetching water, a thin rain parka, an extra bandanna, a flashlight, or any number of things. Use your imagination. The clam shell design is great. You can adjust the interior paracord so that it will open just so far, or to "wide open" sitting with one side up and back while the other is on the ground. The interior has pockets and retaining straps for all kind of gear organization, of course. I won't list all the items that nest in my pouch, maybe because I'm still working out the details and deciding what should stay in there and what should go in my stowaway pot. But, I have decided that I love this pouch and that I will always have it in my day pack, at the ready to be used alone when desired. Finally, I know this is a bit off subject of the product, but as for the other great container that is in my pack, a 1.1 liter pot for cooking, boiling and storing goods ... take a good tip and go give it a look: MSR 1.1L AlpineTM Stowaway Pot Happy trails, all.

Excellent addition to your "Bug out Bag".
My wife may tell you that I have an obsession with packs, but the truth is, I can never find one that's tough enough and fit my needs. Enter Maxpedition. They have bags, tough bags, for everyone and every need. I purchased the FR-1 pouch to be an addition to my Monsoon Gearslinger Khaki Foliage Maxpedition 0410 New "Bug out Bag". I needed a pouch to hold all of my first-aid gear and to be a supplement to the Maxpedition F.I.G.H.T Medical Pouch . This over engineered pouch can hold a LOT of supplies. You can stuff all your basic first-aid supplies plus more advanced items such as CELOX, trauma dressing, C-A-T tourniquet (secured by outer bungee) and an A.R.S. for needle chest decompression. The pouch is MOLLE compatible so you can attach the pouch to your bag or vest using MOLLE straps. Also, you can attach other items to the pouch via the MOLLE. I currently have a STERI-PEN ultraviolet water purifier attached to the FR-1. I have received a lot of complements on my Maxpedition gear and the FR-1 for it's versatility and toughness. The FR-1 can also serve well as a stand alone comprehensive first-aid kit for travelers and hikers. If you are looking for a tough, roomy little pouch for the previously mentioned uses, this it. Or if you're simply looking for a tough pouch, I highly recommend the FR-1.

Simple and durable.
This product has the standard overbuilt craftsmanship we have come to know, love, and expect from maxpedition. This primarily gets used as my IFAK and as such I'm going to remind users that these dont last forever unless you arent training with them like you should be. These have PALS webbing on the sides where you can mount tourniquet holsters so these are outside and quickly accessible, and hold all other required items required by SOP that will cover all elements of MARCH acronym. At the price point I've yet to find a better solution. Lots of "cool guy" IFAK's out there with "boo-boo kits" in them, this is a durable pouch to hold your kit so its there to keep you from dying if Thats what you choose use it for.

Great low profile E.D.C
MaxP at their best again. This pack is very well built and rugged without looking overly "tactical". The material is second to none and the stitching is sure to outlast its owner. Just enough PALS to attach a few pouches or cell phone holder if desired but not so much as to be overdone and begging for more crap. Even with a few small additions, the FR-1 maintains a deceptively thin/low profile appearance. Nothing too bulky. Inside, they did a fantastic job of organizing elastic loops and dividers to separate all of those items you need/want quick unfettered access to. The interior retention strap allows you to determine and adjust how far the pouch opens upon unzipping. You can set it for just a few inches all the way to full flip out/down. This feature should not be taken lightly...it can save on those "oops" experiences when other packs drop their contents to the floor. What can I say, a great small EDC with excellent capacity, organization, features, and quality. Wouldn't want to be without mine.

This pouch is made in Vietnam and the quality of materials and workmanship shows. I had the same pouch in khaki which was made in Taiwan - the one made in Vietnam is clearly a better product. Great pouch for EDC or personal first aid kit.

I read a few reviews on this product plus their is plenty on You Tube about this product mostly good, but not all were completely happy. I bought one for a medic kit. Now i have three ! Medi Kit, Survival kit and my tool kit which fits a 7" crow bar bought off here. Marvelous pouch. Fits perfectly into the 120L British Army Bergen small back pouch. Has a very robust top grab handle. Check out youtube some different guys have videos on about how they pack them out. Hope this helps. I was impressed.
