Japanese Incense Shukohkoku #575 Small Size by Baieido

I, like other reviewers, also find myself wanting to burn this all the time, but it really suits me for meditation. There is some smoke, but not offensive to me. I have several other nice mid priced Japan incenses. The Baieido Kobunboku Tokusen is also a daily favorite, but this has more aloeswood bottom notes and softer but distinct quality sandalwood. As a musician, I'd compare this as having more woodsy upright bass bottom notes, where the other more violin top notes. It is very calming to me and helps with meditation. True that this is more costly for mid priced incense, at 20 cents/stick, burning a half stick at a time works fine, and it is well worth it. The Tokusen is about 8 cents/stick (just a bigger box). Still, I am sure I will want more of this wonderful incense just for the quality.

This is a high quality incense, but we warned: it’s strong. Deep spicy aloeswood with strong camphor and medicinal herbs. You need to work your way up to appreciating this one, but it’s brilliant.

This is a very special incense. I have at least 10 boxes of nice Japanese stuff and always find myself reaching for this one. The scent goes perfect with morning coffee.very warm and embracing. All time classic.

The formula has been changed; the incense has too much charcoal to enjoy fully its aroma. Another victim of commercialization, I guess. Comparing to other sandalwood incense, it is not so bad, just no longer remarkable. But profit over quality is a norm now.

Excellent incense. The best.
