Perfect for laser engraving
These are a textured finish but you can sand and polish them mirror like if you want to take the time. They laser engraved nicely.

They do not engrave nicely with a fiber laser.
These suck. They are cheap metal with a thin coating of good metal. THEY WILL NOT ENGRAVE NICELY WITH A FIBER LASER.

They are brass and blank
These are okay - depends on the look you are going for with the finished product. There is another option on Amazon that has a gutter around the edge with a smooth satin finish that comes out better on my fiber laser (aesthetically speaking, which is subjective). The only objective criticism I have is they are a few thou thinner than the "other" option on here and for a challenge coin I prefer thicker ("other" is item B0C6QSHP9H)

Great Coins
I use these coins to engrave different things and the quality is very high. The addition of the protective cases that come with them make them look all that much better. Great buy. I have purchased more than 100 coins so far and will continue to buy more.

Challenge Coins
What can I say. These are ideal. I use them in a laser engraver. They come with plastic protective cases. There is no stray mark or nick so they look perfect from the start.

These are either being coated with something now, or they're no longer the same mix of brass.
I've bought these a few times in the last year and they've always engraved perfectly on a 50w fiber. I bought two new sets 10/30/24 and used the first one in the middle of an engraving job (3 of my old stock from the prior order plus one from the current order, same supplier / vendor on all of them). The coins from the newest order threw debris all over with the exact same settings and burned badly, the laser ablated material almost twice as deep on the same settings as the coin immediately before it. I'm pretty sure they changed the mix of brass in these because they're definitely not engraving cleanly with proven settings that I've been using for years on brass blanks.
