Oh nooooo
I've bought and loved this product in the past, in store and here. This time the color was different. The texture was different. It was watery, and an almost pinkish purple instead of the nearly black syrupy goop I'm used to. I didn't think much of it- maybe they changed the formula? What I ended up with is PINK ends on my nearly white platinum hair. The rest looks like I used nothing at all. CHECK your product! I've bought this tons of times for about 10 years and never had this happen. My hair is the same color as the residual dye in the gloves (which was a pure white bleach before I added this product). After washing with a stripping shampoo, the pink faded somewhat. But now I'm out my product, what I paid for whatever THIS stuff was, and my Olaplex. AZ can compensate me for the cost of this bottle, but not for the other products it ruined. The bottle is completely opaque so I didn't notice until it was in and mixed. Sad...

Adds ash tones to counteract red tones
Note that on the bottle it says “drabber.” This product is a thick, charcoal gray liquid that adds ash (gray) tones to whatever product you add it to. Ash tones tend to cancel out warm tones, so that’s why it’s recommended for hair that’s “brassy.” I added it to my Nice’n’Easy Golden Blonde 9G because I was getting such strong red tones that my hair was practically orange. The Unred toned down the red slightly, but it added ash tones, and I really do not want ash tones. I simply want less red. Eventually the ash tones washed out. (I am now using Nice’n’Easy Light Blonde 9, a neutral blonde, and the red tones are reduced.) I think this product would be ideal for someone who is coloring their hair an ashy shade and wants to counteract red tones that are coming out. If you don’t want ashy tones, however, this would not be the right solution for you.

PERFECT DARK PURPLE HAIR COLOR ADDITIVE
I have light brown hair that turns blonde in the summer and decided that I want a blonde year-round. I’ve been using this UNRED product since 1986. At least I don’t have to drive around to beauty supply houses anymore but it’s still very hard to find in a1 ounce bottle for under $20+.(I really wish folks wouldn’t buy it up on Amazon and then throw it on eBay for three times the price and wonder why it’s not selling.)Anyway...This works just like the red gold corrector plus in the purple packet by ARDEL, but this is a deeper darker purple so it will work especially when you want to lighten a shade or more. You can definitely add this to your conditioner and leave it in and you’ll get that purple tone and it’ll lighten your blonde even more. This will take the brassiness and red out of your hair for sure.I hate leaving great reviews because then I’m going to come back here and it’ll be sold out, but I stocked up.Everyone else sells .125 or .25 ounce packages for absurd amounts! The small individual packages are perfect if you have 1 boxed haircolor and you can just add it to it.If you’re using more than 5 ounces of hair color which would be let’s say two boxes of hair color and more if you’re mixing your own at home then I love having the bottle and I can add as many drops as I want.I have long blonde hair down to my low back and whenever I use this Unred it takes the brassiness out immediately especially with root touch ups. Also, don’t buy those $20 bottles of purple shampoos and conditioners. Rip off! You simply add these drops to your shampoo her hair color and Wala purple shampoo for cheap!I’ve been telling people this for years and I hope it catches on.I really need to get a picture of my hair when it’s all done.NOTE:I heard people asked about using this with the gray corrector packet and I haven’t tried it yet but I’m going to.~~I have use the gray correct or by itself and it actually deposited orangey brassy tones into my gray hairs which gave me the orange red brassiness I didn’t want!~~~ I will try the gray corrector again with the red corrector but then I’m wondering if the unread cancels out the brassiness and the gray corrector is to deposit color and pigment into the gray hair what the heck is going to happen?Happy hair coloring!!
