Pairs with ikea tradfri bulbs, extend your mesh.
I’m trying to get some home automation set up in an old stone wall house. I have managed to pair temperature and humidity sensors and motion sensors (all Sonoff). But some sensors are dropping off; I believe this is because some are too far away from the hub. So the solution will be to extend and build a mesh network with powered (router) Zigbee devices. The problem has been finding devices that will pair to this hub. Aqara devices will not pair. I can confirm Ikea tradfri light bulbs will pair with this hub. So I will use these to build and extend my mesh network. These bulbs must be within 5cms of the hub during pairing. My solution was to power the bulb in its final position, then bring the hub to the bulb. I did this by powering the Sonoff Zigbee bridge pro off a usb battery power bank, then used the ewelink app for the pairing process. Then returned the hub to its normal operating position. So far this has worked. I will update this review when I can see if this improves the end sensors devices dropping out. Update Dec 2024 I now use 3 of these. This is a farm with several outbuildings. My Wi-Fi signal can reach the other outbuildings (just). so I put a Sonoff Pro bridge hub in the Polytunnel (where sheep are lambed) and another in the Portacabin (farm office). The Zigbee devices are then connected to the Sonoff hub in their location . From the Ewelink app I can turn on/off lights, kettles; monitor temperature in all the different locations. The furthest distance would be about 50 metres from the internet router in the house. The Portacabin used to be a problem running wi-fi smart devices. Its a metal building so wi-fi from the house didn’t operate at the back of it; but the Wi-Fi signal did reach the front of the building; so I sited the Sonoff pro bridge there and all the Zigbee devices inside the portacabin work perfectly when paired to that hub. In the Polytunnel the Sonoff Pro hub is used to control a water heater, light and a kettle. At 2 am in the morning when you need to move quickly to assist a sheep lambing. I have a routine that switches on the lights that get me from the house to the Polytunnel, turns on the water in the kettle in the Polytunnel, and switches everything off in the house as I leave. Then I have another routine that turns off things in the Polytunnel as I leave to go back to the house, which includes switching on the electric blanket so I can climb into a warm bed. I have mostly used Sonoff devices with these hubs, ie motion sensor, door sensor, temperature humidity, button switches and no neutral switches. The IKEA tradfri bulbs have been super reliable at extending the mesh. The biggest problem I’ve had is getting uk Zigbee smart plugs. I did get Woolley Zigbee smart plugs of Amazon (I have 8). They are often unavailable. But they are superb, very reliable with this hub and Ewelink. They offer scheduling and power monitoring. If your having problems with things going off line, then consider either extending your mesh with the bulbs and smart plugs; or divide your space with a second hub, having first ensured your wi-fi reaches the weak area. Then there’s the house. It’s been undergoing some renovation. The old (oil) boiler is about 50 years old. It used to be wired into one those manual timers. The ones that you clicked in out little pegs to turn it on off; and every time the time changed you had to reset the timer. (Misery). The kitchen got updated with underfloor heating, still working off the old boiler. The plumber cut the wiring off the old timer and wired on an ordinary plug on the end. It’s plugged into a Woolley Zigbee smart plug ; and it’s running the central heating. The smart plug can be scheduled to come on/off at whatever time I want. But more useful is the Sonoff temperature monitor. It’s in the kitchen and a scene on Ewelink controls the Woolley plug turning on/off the heating, Simple and cheap and it works.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Smart Automation Across My Property - Setup Tip Makes All the Difference
This SONOFF Zigbee Bridge Pro has been a game-changer for automating tasks across my property. I’ve installed temperature and humidity sensors in my outbuildings, and when conditions reach certain thresholds, the hub triggers smart plugs and appliances such as heaters, dehumidifiers, or fans. It’s reliable, responsive, and integrates well with the app. Setup wasn’t smooth initially, which is why I’ve rated it four stars. Pairing devices was slow and inconsistent until I contacted SONOFF support. They were genuinely helpful and gave a key tip: connect and update the hub and devices close to your router or the item itself before mounting them. Once I followed that advice, everything paired instantly and worked first time. Signal range varies depending on walls. In my wooden cabin with no internal barriers, the hub reaches about 15 metres. In my garage, which has brick walls, the signal weakens at just over 6 metres. For what they are, the devices feel a little expensive, but the functionality makes up for it. The hub now manages multiple devices smoothly, and the dual-protocol support for Wi-Fi and Zigbee makes it flexible for future expansion. If you’re building a smart home or automating remote zones like sheds or garages, this hub is a solid foundation. Just follow the setup advice to avoid frustration.

Versatile and Easy-to-Use Smart Home Hub
The SONOFF Zigbee Bridge Pro Hub is excellent for smart home setups. It supports both Wi-Fi and Zigbee, making it compatible with a wide range of devices. Setup via the app was straightforward, and I was able to connect multiple devices quickly without any issues. The hub is reliable, responsive, and allows smooth control of lights, sensors, and other smart devices. I also appreciate the dual-protocol support, which adds flexibility for future smart home expansions. Overall, a high-quality, versatile hub that makes managing smart devices easy. Highly recommended for anyone building a smart home ecosystem.

Disappointing
Bought this hub and a bunch of Sonoff Zigbee switches, buttons and sockets. The devices themselves are excellent, but this hub goes offline at least once a week rendering all the devices inoperable. Moved it right next to my router but no improvement. Updated the firmware. No improvement. Driving me mad. It'll have to go.

Absolutely fantastic
Very impressive. It’s small and very lightweight, so it’s easy to tuck away somewhere and it connected straight away to the network. I’ve only added a few switches so far, but they were easy to add and each work perfectly.

Decent as a Zigbee repeater
I flashed this with Tasmota Zigbee version and it makes a decent Zigbee repeater.

Four months ago i purchased a new house and a whole home heatpump system, but the temp felt off. The family was always baking (summer time). So i purchased 3x of the SONOFF SNZB-02, a ZigBee temperature sensors to spread around the house. ZigBee because i already had 3x eero 6 pros and wanted to use their built in ZigBee network. eero's zigbee implementation is total garbage. Devices would go offline daily, re-pairing was the only way to get them back online. In addition you have to use the Alexa app, which offers zero configuration, tracking, battery life status, or history. So after research i went with the zb bridge-p (SONOFF Zigbee Bridge Pro). Its been fantastic. Zero devices have gone offline. History reporting. Firmware updates. Device configuration options. All in a clean and pretty interface. But the best part is home assistant integration. By using AlexxIT's SonoffLAN integration, all features are working. No firmware flashing or warranty voiding required. The only downside i have found is that the devices have to be on your lan network. When they were on my IOT isolated network, home assistant could not interact. 10/10 recommend.

The hub is very compact and light. It comes with a USB cable, but you need to provide your own power adapter (which most people already have). Pairing via the eWeLink app worked smoothly; note that you must use a 2.4 GHz Wi‑Fi network (the app indicates 5 GHz does not work). I didn’t need any third‑party apps for setup. One minor downside: how to link the wireless light switch to the smart switch wasn’t immediately obvious and I had to search for the procedure. Once I found it, the pairing worked without issues. Pros: small and lightweight Cons: setup/pairing steps not entirely self‑explanatory (at least for me)
