Unable to access side buttons
It protects the unit just fine other than the screen, but accessing the side buttons is not easy. I find myself removing it from the case to use the gps.

Exactly what I was looking for
The GizzMoVest for my Garmin eTrex 20 was exactly what I was looking for in a GPS case. As an environmental scientist in deep south Texas, I use my GPS almost daily and require a case that is tough enough to withstand dense brush and razor sharp thorns. I specifically wanted a tough, rubbery case that would fit my GPS like a glove. It needed to be a case that I could leave on the GPS at all times and still operate the GPS easily. After scouring the net for a couple weeks, the GizzMoVest was the ONLY GPS case I could find that fit my needs. Everything else seems to be either a holster, requiring the GPS be removed from the "case" in order to be used, or a flimsy leather pouch that looks sloppy and would likely fall apart under an onslaught of brush and thorns. The GizzMoVest is made out of thick, rubbery material that grips the GPS tightly. There's no slipping or wiggle room whatsoever, yet the case fits the contours of the GPS perfectly. The material puts up a valiant fight against sharp thorns, showing no damage after my first foray into the brush with it, and keeping my GPS in pristine factory condition. I was a little unsure of how the lanyard closure would work, but after receiving the case I find that it creates a tight seal and works quite well. And while I didn't require a lanyard on my case I found that having one incorporated into the design proved to be rather handy. Working the buttons through the case takes a little getting used to, but can be done easily enough after a little practice. My one suggestion would be that the company should take a look at possibly incorporating some kind of screen protector into the design of the case. The raised edges of the case seem to do a good job keeping the screen safe from larger objects, but a plastic protector would make me feel better about possible damage from smaller rocks and debris.Otherwise the GizzMoVest is a fantastic case for my GPS and I am thrilled to have finally found a case that is designed for the needs I require.

Durable, great for hiking
The material padding made my etrex 30 seem very shock proof. I just used this case on a hike where the gps was hung off a strap on the backpack. Whenever I dismounted or mounted the backpack, I didn't have to worry about the gps hitting things since the case provided fairly good protection (as long as you don't directly hit the screen). The padding was raised enough to protect the joy stick most of the time. The included lanyard was awesome. The only thing I didn't like was that the controls for the gps are not visually marked on the case, with the exception of a physical indentation. This was easily remedied my a silver sharpie mark on the case.

Best one I found
I chose to rate it 5 stars because it is so well made and does it's job so well. I will use it mostly for hiking and for off roading with my utv. I clipped my old one to my belt and lost it somewhere in the desert. This one has a lanyard and a clip that will hook to my vest, It fits my gps perfectly and has a grippy surface and it comfortable to the hand. The gps button locations are clearly indicated on it and the buttons are easy to use with the gps inside. My only concern at first was that the hinge is made of the same material as the outside of the case and I felt it might break after many openings and closings. After putting the gps in the case and removing it a few times, I feel more confident the hinge will last. Time will tell. I recommend this to all off roaders, hikers, boat drives, pilots, geochachers, etc. its

Tough GPS cover for a tough world!
The Garmin eTrex 30 case by GizzMoVest is awesome! It feels and looks as if it's made of "Rhino liner", or pickup truck bed spray on liner. Rough texture to prevent it from slipping from your hand even if wet. It is, however, flexible enough so that the buttons on the sides of the eTrex 30 are easily manipulated with very little effort. The cover rises about 3/8" above the screen of the Garmin eTrex 30, giving you quite a bit of extra (just in case) protection. The cover opens up easily once the cord-lock is loosened on the attached lanyard. The lanyard also acts as the "latch" which secures the upper and lower portions of the case around the GPS. Money well spent on a cover for a fairly expensive piece of electronic equipment. If you have a GARMIN eTrex 10, 20 or 30 spend the extra $25 and purchase this unit.

USA USA USA Made in the USA.
Kinda like this gizzmo. Have had it with me on a couple of treks and it is practically indestructible (not that I would want to anyway). The only issue I've had with it is that is doesn't always align quite right making it hard to push the buttons from the outside. You could probably drop this a couple of hundred feet and the GPS would still work. I'll wait for someone else to try that though as I am not a betting person.

So so
It is definitely protective and with it in place I do not fear to drop my GPS. I find, however, that I don't actually use it for a number of reasons. It is bulky and makes it hard to just shove into a pocket. It obscures the buttons so I can't effectively and easily utilize the GPS unit. It doesn't protect the face of the unit at all.So - if I were to have it to do over, I might buy, instead, a belt-mounted holster for the unit.It is protective, though, and it does a good job at that.

Great Case
I purchased this case for my Garmin after heading through the woodline and finding that I needed something for a little added protection. I enjoy the adjustable lanyard and the easy on and off. Case is very durable and fits great. It is a little bulky but nothing ridiculous that impacts operation or screen access. Overall, I'd recommend this case to anyone needing something for their eTrex version GPS.
