Excellant iPhoto '11 Book
I have tried to load and arrange pictures on my Mac for quite some time and even though I thought I had followed the video clips provided by Apple I never seemed to get everything out of the system that i thought was there. I had more than 15000 photos that i needed to name and file in an album plus events and places on the Mac. This little book gave me the direct answers to those filing questions. I have used it to name, tag, file and place about 75% of my photos on this Mac and now I am well pleased. I still have a lot to learn and just browsing through this manual there were dozens of things I learned that iPhoto will do that I did not know about. You can always view the Mac videos however like in my case you have got to know what to ask for, in order to view them. Now I have a hardcopy manual that I can refer to instantly. Well written, easy to understand and easy to find your subjects.

Not quite perfect, but
With this book I have made real progress with i-Photo. The biggest problem is that i-Photo seems to beconstantly changing and what was true when the book was published may have changed and I get cranky when I have to check elsewhere for updates. On the other hand, when friends ask me for i-Photo help, I show up with the book, and a surprising number get their own copies and tell me how much better their i-Photo experiences are as a result.

Great manual with two missing subjects
I love the manual but I would have expected it to cover two subjects that are key to the OSX Mountain Lion/iPhoto11 environment. The first is scanning and the second is the PhotoStream feature. I also purchased the Mountain Lion Missing Manual and the Photostream feature was not covered. Still rate the product with four stars, just a suggestion for improvement.

Makes video editing easier
This publication guides you through a step by step clear approach as you are made familiar with all the techniques linked with using the iMovie '11 software. The language is crisp and precise, and not without an occasional touch of humour. It is written by a person who very obviously has a love for the subject and has followed iMovie develop from one edition to the next. The manual is furthermore well illustrated and contains many practical tips about what to do when using iMovie. It has made video editing easier for me and I refer reguarly to the Manual whenver I am stuck about some feature or other.

Good
Was very excited to try out I-photo, especially with the well written instructions. Many of the chapters were easily completed. Unfortunately was not able to e-mail photos using roadrunner which does not support i-photo and no warning or information available as to how to be able to use the wonderful features in i-photo with this problem.

Great as a Kindle download to your computer
I've owned and appreciated hard copies of "The Missing Manual," but I decided I'd try it on my computer. It's great this way as I can go back and forth between the book and iPhoto. Just re-reading some chapters, I've picked up some tips I've forgotten or never known......like hiding photos and collapsing events in the photo mode. This Kindle version is in full color and easy to read and easy to enlarge if you choose to. And it's a bargain at this price. I'll also be able to download it to my new iMac which is the one that actually has iPhoto 11 on it.

First look - first error in the book
I received this quite recently and had only flicked through it until today when I checked Deleting Photos on page 71 and found an error right away. It says that you cannot select photo thumbnails in Albums (but only in Events or Photos view) to move them into Trash. You most certainly can move photos from Albums into Trash and the photos will be removed from the Photo Library as well.It would seem that Pogue and Snider may have moved too quickly to get this book into print. I will add to this review if I find more errors

iPhoto 11 - another great Missing Manual
Having been accustomed to iPhoto 9, I had difficulty adjusting to iPhoto 11 -- major changes! Had to wait 3 months for new Missing Manual, but it was worth the wait. Like all M Ms we have found so helpful, with a touch of humor while simplifying the complexities of our various Mac updates, this is most helpful. However, there was one problem I still couldn't resolve, so I emailed Lesa Snider (she invites emails!). Bingo! She replied with the solution! That is standing behind your product!

Makes the iMac usable
Having moved from Windows to an iMac in November 2010, I still find myself 9 months after, mostly using the iMac with Windows 7 on Boot Camp.Total lack of useful documentation supplied with the iMac is partly responsible for this, plus the general unusability of the iMac for business purposes. However, I have a huge collection of photographs and music, and pretty much my only use of the iMac has been for that. The photographs were all personally organised in a Windows folder structure, and a straight import to iPhoto destroyed that, rendering it unusable. With no basic documentation [online does not work well when trying to get up to speed] provided by Apple, and a file structure with OS X that is, in my opinion, much poorer than that of Windows, I needed something to kickstart my use of the software, as a way of kickstarting my use of the iMac generally. The Missing Manual Books are simply brilliant - even more so when supplied in Kindle format. I use my iPad and iPhone to read them, either when using the iMac, or when elsewhere in the house, or even on the bus. The content is relevant and perfectly presented.I can't think why Apple did not originally provide something of the sort.I absolutely recommend this book! It is worth every penny.

Great if you still have iPhoto on your system
The missing manual series of books fills in for the lamentable lack of literature supplied by Apple with their ( now overpriced?) products .This is a great book IF you still have iPhoto on your system. With the introduction of OS-X Yosemite ( and soon El Capitan) , iPhoto has now been removed from iLife as a download ( as has Apple Aperture) and has been replaced by "Photos" to make all Mac' more like iPads.

Excellent well written and useful book
Well written and very helpful, the sort of information apple should supply. Makes using iPhoto a realistic alternative to photoshop elements when you have good equipment and just want to do minimal processing on your photos.

Photo's
At last a comprehensive manual that helps to guide a user through the complex world of iPhoto. It was badly needed and has made using iPhoto so much more enjoyable.

A book that I needed
A good book if you are going to get the full use out of iPhotos. Only one complaint it would help if you printed the text a little larger and in black us 70+ need this so I used there electronic view on the web sight.
