Great little USB-C to optical adapter – perfect with Chord Mojo 2
I bought this Cubilux USB-C to SPDIF transmitter to add an optical output to my devices, and it has worked exactly as I hoped. I use it to connect my iPhone to my Chord Mojo 2, and also my laptop to the Mojo 2, and in both cases the sound quality is very good – clean, detailed and noise-free. Setup is as simple as it gets: plug it into the USB-C port, connect an optical cable to the DAC, and it’s ready to go. No drivers or fiddling with settings were needed in my case. It locks onto the signal reliably and I haven’t had any dropouts or glitches. The build quality feels solid for such a small device, and it’s compact enough to throw in a bag for travel. For anyone who wants to add a proper digital optical output to a phone, tablet or laptop and feed a high-quality DAC like the Mojo 2, this is a very handy little adapter. I’m very pleased with it and happy to recommend it.

Simple, no issues converter - would recommend
Using optical out with a Chord Mojo 2. Works great.

Brilliant cheap solution for 24/192 Dolby Atmos audio from M-series Macs.
Ideal for MacOS. I get 24 bit/192 kHz audio out from USB C to Toslink for a very cheap price, so this is great value. As it's just in a cable-size format, it's compact, it's easy to connect, and so far now - several months - it seems there's little to go wrong, so I'm content with the build quality. The step up from analogue to 24/192 digital audio - including Dolby Atmos from Apple Music - is astonishing.

Solves drop out sound problems with Mac M series chips on usb c/thunderbolt,. .
Very pleasantly surprised. I have only had it a couple of days so I cannot comment on its longevity but it does actually work. Its installed between a Mac Air M4 and a Yamaha 501 amp. It also works on my Teac DAC but as it has a single output rate only, its actually a better sound using the shortest path direct to the amps optical input. The sound lacks depth but that can be fiddled out to some extent and given my computer library is mostly old recordings that are not always CD quality that does not really matter. Stereo definition is also definitely there. All in all a great solution assuming it lasts and is well worth the £21 quid it cost. Problem is most buyers will, like me, be audiophiles and will expect it to be perfect which is not But is does solve the drop out issues that M series Mac users are experiencing with even the best DACS that don't have native usb c. And i.t also works perfectly well with the computer set to low power.

Great for music but doesn't work with the Apple TV app
I bought this as a way to get lossless audio from my iPad, iPhone and windows laptop to my HiFi and this works almost flawlessly. When steaming music the quality is amazing, no issues at all and audibly better quality than Bluetooth. YouTube and Netflix also work great, but when streaming video using the Apple TV app no audio comes through (using Windows and iPad apps). Luckily this isn't a dealbreaker for me (and also is likely Apple's fault rather than the manufacturer, since it works with other streaming services, hence I haven't docked any stars) but I would look for another product if playing back Apple TV content from a laptop or iPad will be important for you.

Dead on arrival
Quality control must be suspect as the device was dead on arrival. Bought it to connect an Nvidia Shield streamer to a Stereo Yamaha R-N602 amplifier. The Nvidia detected it as the default audio output despite but I could not get any audio. The red LED transmitter was however working. I also tried using it with my laptop, selected it as the default audio output, tried different but-rates but again no sound. Cubilux customer service, however, was good. Ordered a Nobsound Douk Audio U2 which worked first time with no fuss whatsoever. Unfortunately, it is an expensive overkill for my application but it works.

192Khz 24-bit PCM S/PDIF Output. Short flimsy cable, but still good value.
Does exactly what it says. Outputs S/PDIF digital 2 channel PCM audio at up to 24-bit 192khz. Easy to connect. Cable attached to it seems a little flimsy and it isn;t very long so I avoid putting strain on it, I never let it dangle. But because it is so short it usually sits next to my laptop on my desk, and I use a longer SPDIF cable to my DAC or receiver. But if you have a desktop with high up USB sockets, I would recommend connecting a USB C extension cable to this, so the usb cable end doesn't dangle. This is good value for money though. So simple yet some sound cards which do the same thing cost upwards of £70.

Really does 24bit/192kHz (but need to adjust some settings - see screenshots).
Fantastic little USB to SPDIF optic interface. I'm using it with a FOSI Audio DAC-04 Headphone amp, it's currently (the amp) unavailable but the identical looking AIYIMA DAC A2 is. I used to use the USB input for the audio signal but it was limited to 24bit 96kHz whereas the amp is capable of 24bit 192kHz when operating over optical. With the little Cubilux adapter I get the full 24bit/192kHz and sounds great with a pair of Bose headphones. Note you have to go into Sounds/advanced settings for your device to increase it from the default on Windows 10. I have attached some screenshots that show how to do this on Windows 10. Although I have a company laptop that runs Windows 11 I haven't tried it on there (our IT dept are very fussy about unapproved USB devices) but I suspect it will be very similar. I don't know about Chromebook or Apple sorry. I only use it for 2.0 stereo but I think it's great value for money as the sound from my amp is very good. Amazon music has plenty of high bit rate music to enjoy (I pay for my Amazon Prime).

Does what it says on the box
Well built little adaptor. Very unique as it's the only USB to optical DAC I could find to use with a speaker and headphone amplifier using computer or TV as a source. Very good price and does the job very well, good sound out of it. There were jitter and timing errors twice during my use but very minimal and takes nothing away from this product. If you want to enjoy optical audio from a PC or smartphone this is definitely a go to.

Works perfectly with Arctis Pro (The one with the DTS X base station) and the Sony SRS-NS7 on PS5.
I own a couple of spdif devices that are fantastic. The Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless and the Sony SrS- Ns7 both these devices receive sound specifically from spdif sources. The Arctis gives you a DTS X which is unbeatable and the Srs-Ns7 provided Atmos through their XR tvs as well as phone app. Anyway, since the PS5 does not support Spdif I thought I would try to find a way to use my most favourite headsets in some way on our PS5 and this little thing was a winner. You should know though, the PS5 only supports stereo when using USB headsets and this adapter helps with that. One good thing though is that the adapter also makes sure you can use 3D Audio (Tempest decoding) which if games support it, they can sound amazing, especially when using a stereo headset, it's definitely the poor man's version (excuse the term) of DTS X or Atmos for headphones. Normally I use the Arctis Pro via the HDMI and get all surround from the spdif out from the tv so that wasn't the problem, still it works if you want 3D audio on an Arctis but when using the Sony srs-Ns7 things really started to sound fantastic with this adapter. It's like a portable surround speaker. Very surprising and mind blowing that it actually works. So all in all this product is a must have for any one that wants to use a Game DAC or other proffesional portable soundcard that uses Spdif on PS5 or PS4 pro for that matter. Was just about to buy the Steelseries Nova Pro wireless then this little adapter saved me 400$ and it just works and sounds great, no hassle. Just a gods sent! Merry Christmas!
