Supportive and grippy
I've had this mat for about a month and so far it has been great for my home practice. It's soft/thick enough that my knees don't hurt even though I have wood floors. It gives a great grip, especially since I spritz a little water with essential oil where my hands and feet usually go. I can sweat a bit doing yoga, but the sweat isn't pouring off me like it would if I were doing hot yoga, so while I would say it does get grippier when you sweat, I can't say what it would be like in an intense class. It is much heavier than a normal mat, but that doesn't affect me since I use a different mat to carry to classes. The only real downside I would say is the smell. The first couple days I had it, the smell was so strong it made my whole apartment smell like rubber. I don't have anywhere outside to hang it, which is a bummer, because I'm sure that would have helped. The smell has mellowed out, but if my face is on the mat, it does still have a rubbery smell--another reason I spritz with water and essential oil, to mask the smell. This mat is pretty expensive, but if you're committed to a home practice then I would recommend.

A rare find....
You go through life with certain assumptions and expectations based upon your limited sphere of contact. Every once in a while, something comes along to force a dramatic shift in what you have come to expect. For me, Yoga was such a thing.I have been affectionately referred to as a Cave Man by someone dear to me. Coming from many years of weight lifting for exercise, I considered Yoga to be an effeminate pastime, hardly worthy of my investigation…. until I tried it and discovered a whole new realm of body boundaries to push. The puddles of sweat I produce prove its significance.Anyway, this "Perfect" cork mat helps tremendously. It absorbs sweat instantly and since cork is bio-friendly (a naturally anti-bacterial material), I don’t need to be too concerned about bacterial buildup. I previously used a rubber-like mat and ended up having to shift in the middle of poses when I was losing grip… not something you want to do when stretching yourself beyond comfortable limits. With this mat, I can push into Downward Dog with my heels in full contact with the floor without having to worry about either my feet or hands slipping away from center.Did I mention how good it feels against my skin, how good it still smells, and how I look forward to laying across it every morning? It was shipped quickly and was packaged nicely.I wish all my life discoveries worked out as well.

The cork really does help absorb moisture if it is fully dry to start with
I've been using this cork mat in my hot yoga class for a few months now and have a sense of how it performs. It really is true that the cork mat doesn't require an extra towel in the hot yoga classes. That's a real plus for me - not matter how nice the towel it always seems to get bunched up or wrinkled. I really like the neatness of having one less item to bring into my class. It's also a lot lighter than my main yoga mat, a Manduka (which has held up amazingly well). The cork material is a bit thinner than I expected. While it does absorb water, one needs times between uses to let the mat dry out completely. If I use it several days in a row, the cork becomes saturated and instead my perspiration will start pooling on the mat and then I end up with a slipper surface. I wonder if a thicker cork layer would help more with that.Overall, glad I bought it and look forward to seeing how well it performs over time.

My favorite yoga mat I've ever used
I was a little concerned before buying this based on the reviews saying it was slippery, since I already have issues with my hands slipping a lot, but since other people said it was grippy, I figured I'd try it out and then return it if it was too slippy. Turns out, it's not slippery at all!! The texture of the cork feels really nice (and I personally think it smells kinda good lol) and I love that there's no visible branding on it. I think it would be slippery if you're wearing socks, so maybe that's where other people are running into issues? But anyway, if you're put off by the reviews saying it's slippery but otherwise are really into this mat, I'd recommend at least giving it a try!!

Great mat with some minor issues
I really like this may so far. It’s cushioned and has enough weight for it to secure to the ground. I have noticed some fraying on the edges after light use, but it’s not really a problem for me at the moment. The only other thing to be aware of is cleaning it. I know it’s naturally anti-microbial, but I find myself more aware of all the surfaces it touches when I’m commuting since it does require special care to clean.I would definitely recommend this mat.

Not really what I expected
When I thought of a "cork" yoga mat, I think I expected a mat with a good amount of actual cork; however, the layer of cork on this mat is extremely thin...Another minor issue I had with it, was that some of the cork started flaking off in the middle of my yoga class the FIRST time using it. Usually this doesn't happen until a few months-year of use. This for me was a little upsetting because the quality wasn't there and this mat is NOT cheap.Overall, I gave it three stars because the mat was extremely comfortable and it stayed true to the "no slipping" hype.I have a really bad back and this mat was thick enough to roll into a sitting position without any pain.I ended up returning the mat for another mostly because of the flaking issue.I'd rather spend more money on something if the quality is there, and I felt this mat wouldn't have lasted as long as should have.
