Draping for Apparel Design: Bundle Book + Studio Access Card

Rebuttal to 2 star rating
I am glad that the 2 star reviewer found the 3rd Edition of Draping for Apparel Design to (her/his) liking, but the comments about the 4th Edition are inaccurate. Yes, some of the more repetitive designs from earlier editions are moved to online PDFs (which can be printed out, so you need not 'lose' them if you do not want to renew the online content after a year), but many of the online documents are new or major revisions including a set of many images of fabrics, some interesting instructions on finding body landmarks, and a lot of information on half scale dress forms along with patterns for making your own form. There are also several videos online. This seems like gaining information instead of losing it!Also, as is stated clearly in the Preface and Acknowledgements, the new images in the book were created by artist Yelana Sefronova (not clip art!) and that they were specifically added to introduce more variety in body types in contrast to the sterile, cloned fashion figures of the earlier editions. It is clear that the reader's interest was these fashion figures and not the fashions themselves as she/he misses the faces of the figures retained from the earlier editions with part of the face (not the full head!) clipped away.If you also prefer the 3rd Edition handle it carefully -- my larger format 615 page 3rd Edition is losing pages rapidly, as it was not bound appropriately for such a large book. The 560 page 4th Edition with a clever lay-flat binding promises to last much longer. The impression from the earlier reviewer is that the 4th Edition has less information and was produced cheaply and without much care. Nothing could be further from the truth. The 4th Edition adds much more and is thoughtfully and carefully produced.

On-line studio access is only good for 1 year.
This is the latest edition of this textbook and comes with a studio access card that gives you access to on-line content. My biggest issue with this is that the "on-line" content; is actually content from the original earlier editions that was REMOVED, and put on-line instead. This is clearly explained in the prologue, introduction. The studio access card states right on the back of it that "once activated, you will have 12 months of access to the on-line content". Than after that you basically lose 25% of the book's original info. Another issue I have with this book is that in comparison to the earlier editions, most of the illustrations have been replaced with clip-art; and also the original illustrations of people no longer have their heads! All you can see are torsos! Also, the book was made smaller and with a thinner cover and paper because the publisher said that it made the book more classroom friendly.I am returning this version and have located a copy of the 3rd edition. I will be much more comfortable with that one.Book review aside; Bookworm offered the best price for this book.
