THE UNWORTHY THOR
O**.
Story and Art both A+.. Odinson rocks!
A perfect example that a medium dealing in fantastic beings with extraordinary abilities can offer mature, thought-provoking content for the adult, everyday mortal. The story has everything: strong themes, action, suspense and even a little romance. Olivier Coipel never disappionts, hitting just about the best quality you can expect in comics with his drawings. The Odinson proves that he is all heart. He doesn't need Mjolnir to best the toughest odds and some heavy-hitting bad guys. He is a god, even without a hammer. Even he realized that at the end.More than worth the money.

Worthy
While somebody else is being the new Thor our old Thor is going around looking for a new hammer. He fights Thanos's henchman, teams up with Beta Ray Bill, and finds the hammer that belonged to Ultimate Thor. This was another good entry of Jason Aaron's epic run on Thor. It's not part of the main series but a good read nonetheless. Definitely worthy of picking up.

Jason Aaron is a Master or Thor Drama
The Unworthy Thor was a bit of a detour from the main Jason Aaron run at the time, however that does not make this series “unworthy” of your time. 😉 It was a fantastic detour and told a truly heartbreaking story of Thor, captured and out on his own trying to reclaim any hammer for himself, more specifically, the Ultimate Universe hammer. It’s a brutal book but the read is amazing, you have some real classic villains and heroes in it, Thanos and the Collector both make appearances. And if you haven’t read Marvel comics with them before, it’ll give you a pretty good idea of who they are. And then on the flip side and I believe the only time during Jason Aaron’s completes run, Beta Ray Bill appears. He’s a fantastic hero and his interactions with Thor are worth the price of this book alone. The premise is good, the characters are better and the writing is amazing. Jason Aaron’s Thor run will go down as one of the all time greats for any comic. Obviously I’d recommend reading from the beginning first, but this is a “worthy” book to read on its own as well.

So very worthy of your time. A great story and artwork to make a mere mortal feel very worthy. Excelsior!

Jason Aaron's run on Thor has been stellar. He's found a way to tell the kinds of epic narratives that fans of superhero comics (and other actiony genres) enjoy while mixing in some clever metatextual elements (these stories can be read as a commentary on the difficulty of writing stories about god-like characters) and existential angst (Thor's crisis of conscience that informs the story). This volume benefits from Coipel's contribution to the story. He helps ground a story that could seem a bit too heady. His action sequences are genuinely thrilling, and the moments of despair are well executed.I would not read this as my first volume of Thor (the series or Aaron's run), but if you're relatively familiar and on the fence re: death as a sanction, I would highly recommend this book.

Amazing art and above average story.
Compared to the other Marvel comics released this year, Unworthy Thor is one of the best. This is a relief since a majority of their current line up has been losing quality. It's great having a story about Thor's predicament after losing his hammer to his girlfriend with cancer. The story's brought to life with amazing art (though sometimes the panel placement's weird) and you can feel the weight of strikes. But, there's the story. It starts with Thor trying to fight without his hammer, powers, and more importantly; his title. Thor's in a position that he's never been in before, and it's interesting to see the character handle humility.Unfortunately, there's no big fight at the end and [insert spoiler] doesn't get involved after being hinted at. It's also VERY disappointing that Thor doesn't do the thing you THINK he's gonna do. Which makes the whole volume feel unimportant in the long run.

An engaging read
I'll admit I was unsure about this title; however, in the end, I did enjoy it. I've been a fan of Thor for a while but have not followed the comic in many years now. Aaron quickly brought me up to date on the essentials. After Secret Wars / Battleworld, the hammer of Ultimate Thor appeared in the new Marvel Universe. The Collector wants it, and so does the familiar (currently hammerless) Thor, who is aided in his quest by Beta-Ray Bill.I'd definitely pick up another volume of this series, but it won't be from Amazon. Packaging remains an issue (see images), with oversized envelopes now the norm for comics, and my book arrived with a broken spine. Par for the course, I'm afraid.
