Keith Haring: The Boy Who Just Kept Drawing

Awesome read!

I was thrilled when my third grader came home from school and asked me to get this book out of the library for him - so thrilled that I ordered him his own copy right away! This book, written by Keith Haring's sister, is honest and true to his biography, but also carries a broader message about finding your passion and giving to others. There is vibrant artwork throughout, and the story is well written and easy to follow. Keith Haring has always been one of my favorites, and it has been a pleasure to share this interest with my son.

Great children’s book about one of my favorite artists. A lot of information packed into an age appropriate format that keeps Mr. Haring’s legacy alive.

Fabulous book! In an interview with the Huffington Post, Kay Haring said the takeaway was : “Dream big, work hard, give back!" What an inspiring message for all ages!! I got a book for myself and then thought of numerous friends who would love to read it and share it with their kids and friends---so I've gifted them with copies, hoping it motivates people to create and engage, and make this world a better place! What a lovely story, charmingly told and beautifully illustrated. Super happy to have this delightful book read and to share!

My whole family loves this book! As an art teacher and mom, I was so excited to see this new book. I've already used it in my art camp this summer and my children ask for it to be read to them multiple times a day. The quote from Keith at the end brought tears to my eyes. Kay has made something so beautiful- a tribute to Keith and her knowing and loving him and growing up with him, a tribute to his life, work, and art, and just an amazing and beautiful story. I've never recommended a children's book more strongly.

Harings iconic genius is well represented in this superb book with art and story.

I saw this book on an art website that suggested it to go along with a Keith Haring art activity. As a 3rd grade teacher, this is right up my alley! The book was well-written and my students were so engaged. The message of the artist's life was lovely and inspiring, but also appropriate for children. The original artwork was beautiful, but it also included some of Haring's artwork.

Great story about the life of Keith Haring for children. I read it to my 2nd grade art students before we do a Haring style project, and they always seem to enjoy it. There are also some great quotes in there from Haring about encouraging kids to keep making art, despite what anyone thinks of it.

Excellent book written by the sister of artist Keith Haring. Hardcover. Included throughout the pages are samples of his artwork with an explanation of each piece at the back of the book. Really captures who Keith Haring was and what he believed about art. This book can be used with pretty well any age group and brings up so many points to facilitate discussions on a wide number of topics relating to the process and 'doing' of art. It also speaks to the notion of kindness towards others. So glad I came across this book.

Endearing story of Keith's artistic career that I've read with my french pupils.

I bought this book for 2 little girls 4 and 6. It's easy to read, beautifully illustrated in Keith's iconic style. For those who don't know much about him, it's a useful introduction. I💓Haring.
