Rivnut Insert Setting Tool Nutsert M4 M5 M6 M8 M10 (M10)

Easy to use. Great for setting a small number of Rivnuts.
This tool works great. Just be sure to lubricate it before using it and remember to release the jam nut before you try to remove the screw from the Rivnut. If you do not, you will likely twist off the screw head.

Does the job!
I had to add grab handles to the cab of my van. The sheet metal wasn't thick enough to thread so blind nuts were the best solution. I put in four for the two handles and five more in the overhead mounting for the cage.Made for a tidy installation with a professional look!

Good basic tool
It worked well for me using 6mm stainless rivet nuts. I made sure that I did not over tighten the tool. I could feel the tool get warm compressing the rivets. I also tried a couple I could see the rivet working and know that I was not overdoing it. It would be easy to break the bolt in the tool by over tightening.

It works.with some good pluses and a few concerns
In general I'm pleased with the tool. On the plus side, it is compact and can be used in very tight installations where the larger nutsert tools with long handles would not fit. It is also low cost (but you only get the one size). My concerns are with the Allen machine screw it uses to pull and spread the Nutsert. So far I have done about 8 inserts and it has done just fine, but it looks to be just a normal black metal machine screw and I can see where the threads have been worn. So I don't know how long the machine screw will hold up. Also, this tool takes some fineness to keep the Nutsert tight and even with the surface while setting the Nutsert, and it takes a good feel to know how much force to use, or rather when to quit tightening. Too tight and you break the Nutsert. Too loose ant the Nutsert does not get set properly. But after doing a couple of practice runs on the work bench, I got the hang of it and it worked well for my projects.

Worked Perfect!
This product did exactly what it was designed to do! I only added a star washer to it to butt up against the riv nut to help keep the riv nut from spinning and it worked perfectly. Those who reviewed and said the tool broke most likely over tightened the riv nuts (which is easy to do). Those who commented on the cost of the components are correct. This is expensive for what you get if indeed you are willing to go out and purchase the individual components to make it, but a little bit of research ahead of time should have made that very clear. I knew exactly what I was getting and was willing to pay the price to have all the parts match and be delivered to me.

It worked for me
I used this to install a couple of M5 carbon steel rivets in a bike frame. It worked the first time with minimal effort (5 minutes each) on both rivets. IF you could find a couple of nuts the same size as these a homemade approach would probably works as well. However, good luck finding nuts that large (for a relatively small M5 bolt). I couldn't. I did try a homemade approach using smaller nuts and I gave up after 3 hours. It is hard to take that you are spending $15 for one bolt, a couple of nuts, and a washer. However, it did work. It seems to me like they could at least supply an extra bolt and a washer or two for that price.

No instructions
Needed 4 rivnuts to attach a bafang battery, did the trick and then some on a friends bike for a water bottle. I cannot understand how other reviews were comparing this to commercial tools. You can build the same device for half the price at the hardware store but the time and effort doesn’t match the price. Great buy!

Great tool
Much better than the hardware store bolt and nut method, worth the few dollars more, and actually will last.
