The weight of the dryer is similar to all my previous dryers, it's pretty standard. Is plenty powerful, I have really thick hair and I definitely feel that this dryer cuts down on my drying time. It's plenty hot, it styles my hair perfectly. I don't think it's my imagination, I think this dryer actually makes my hair turn out smoother. I've actually been skipping using my flat iron after drying due to this blow dryer. I can use this dryer to "get another day out of my blow dry"... for the health of my hair I try to shampoo every third day. But occasionally I'll do some vigorous activity that ends up getting my hair a little frizzy, this dryer, using it on my dry hair, fixes that and makes it lo look totally smooth again. What a value that is to me! The cord is plenty long, longer than most, so no restrictions while using. It's not overly loud, I've had hair dryers where I have seriously used foam ear plugs while using, because they were that loud that I thought with everyday use it might be harmful to my hearing, not this one! Surprising, because it's so powerful, but nope, it's on the quieter side as these things go. What else can I say? I've been using it for about two? months and no longer dread drying my hair after a shower because it's such a quicker task now. I'd buy it again, and WILL buy it again when this one reaches the end of its life. Oh, and the reason I chose this particular one was because my daughter swore by it, and she has very long, thick hair. She claims she's very attached to her blow dryer, lol! You can find cheaper dryers out there, but from someone who's had dozens of them throughout the years, this one is worth the extra money. Yup...I've found my perfect hair dryer! Review: SO GOOD I'VE BOUGHT MULTIPLE TIMES (NOT due to defects!) - I've been so HAPPY with this hair dryer that I've continued to purchase over and over again. I bought a second for my daughter since she kept using mine. We both have long hair, her's is fine and mine is I guess medium-ish. It works great for us both. Points to make: 1. WEIGHT ISN'T AN ISSUE: Daughter started using at age 12 and though the dryer is heavier than her former one, she handles it with no problem and prefers it over her old 'light weight kiddy' dryer if you will. 2. REPEAT BUYER: I've bought three now. Number 2 went to my daughter and number 3 was to replace mine ONLY BECAUSE I RUINED IT by plugging it into an extension cord that couldn't handle the heat and melted into the power pack. (The longer explanation for those interested is that I will use it as a bathroom warmer for my dogs. They don't like dryers right on them so I let it run on the counter, very carefully placed because of heat, and warm the room to help them dry faster. I have 3 Cocker Spaniels. Needless to say it can run upwards to an hour sometimes by the time I bathe all 3. So the heat from the power pack melted the VERY cheap extension cord and plastic melted onto the power pack, etc etc. It was TOTALLY MY FAULT!) 3. EXTREMELY DURABLE: I have run it probably FAR MORE HOURS THAN MOST over time because I actually use it to warm the bathroom to help my long haired dogs coats dry faster. They won't let me blow dry them directly, so warming the bathroom helps them dry faster, in the colder months. So, it's certainly DURABLE to handle all that!!!! 4. FAST: Dries faster and so though it's slightly heavier than most, you don't have to hold it long and so is never an issue. 5. GREAT RESULTS: We NO LONGER HAVE ISSUES WITH STATIC ELECTRICITY in our hair! Great shine and body! 6. CONVERTED FROM Remington: Another former Remington hair appliances owner now converted. 7. COOL SHOT IS FAST: Cool shot button cools down faster than MANY others I've had over the years. As a person with long hair my whole life and I'm 50, this one beats all of them hands down, and I've been through probably DOZENS over the years. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Way to go BaByliss!!!!

Great blowdryer, great speed. Gets the job done!!
Okay I must say- I've been using a 10 year old Revlon blow dryer to dry my long hair. It was only after getting my hair done at the salon and comparing their dry time to mine that concerned me that my dryer wasn't doing the best job. This blow dryer is powerful- it will blow your hair dry fast. My hair is fine, but there is a lot of it & I have a natural wave that can blow dry straight with little product. My old Revlon would make my hair sort of frizzy, even after using product and a round brush to dry it straight. It took a while to get completely dry and my hair would still be somewhat damp before after 20 min I'd just give up and say "whatever" with fly always and all. I attribute this to the time it took to dry it- the heat was there but the amount of air blowing through the Machine makes all the difference & I know that now that I have this new blow dryer. This blow dryer will blow your hair around like crazy if you let it. It's very strong. You must learn how to control the nozzle in a direction that won't make your hair twirl around and get tangled. It's THAT strong. That being said, the settings are great, cool, warm, & hot for temperature & low and high for air speed. It also features a "cool shot" button which is great to "set" your style and make sure the whole head is completely dry before you're finished. The cool shot button truly does cool the air that blows out of the unit. It's not just room temperature air being pushed through-it truly goes from hot to cool in seconds. The hot gets very hot if you keep it in one spot for more than a few seconds. The results of this dryer speak for themselves. My hair dries very smoothly now. It looks as if I've used a straightening iron -- if not better. I have a chi straightener and I haven't used it since I got this blow dryer. It's great. It's not super heavy like people have said. I've had no problems keeping it in my hand and my arm doesn't get sore & I don't work out like I used to. My arms get only the exercise from picking up my 20 lb toddler occasionally through the day. I hope this review helps! Great dryer. Very satisfied. I've been using it for a little over a month now :) UPDATE: going on 2 + years of use now. My sister in law used it at the family reunion and loved it! She has super long thick coarse hair and is buying it, too! The quality stands up to the test of time. I use my dryer anywhere from 2-5 times a week and it’s been tried and true.

Hair is healthier but dryer is heavy
So I've used this hair dryer about 5 times since I've purchased it last month so I can now review it. I have very thick, curly hair that I dye blonde (naturally dark brown) so think my hair as Shakira's but not as long. My hair is frizzy as well due to the bleach. I was previously using a cheap store bought hair dryer. I noticed it didn't get my hair as straight as I wanted to so I had to mostly get my hair straightened with a flat iron which was ruining my hair due to the excessive heat. And I was trying try to use the flat iron no more than 2 times a week so my hair didn't suffer as much but that didn't work. So after reading many reviews on Amazon and sticking to a low budget (I can't spend $100 or even $300 on a hair dryer) I decided to purchase a Babyliss hair dryer since I had purchased their flat iron while traveling in France and loved it. So I will cut the crap and get to the point: I love this hair dryer but hate one thing about it: this dryer is HEAVY. So if you have long hair (mine is below shoulders maybe 3 inches) don't get this specific model, get a lighter Babyliss model. You will get tired of holding this heavy dryer (I do) so I can't picture someone having to blow dry their hair straight with this dryer for too long without taking breaks). I go to the gym and lift weights (trying to build lean muscle but I'm not buff yet haha) so if I'm telling ya this dryer is heavy you can trust me. So apart of it being heavy, I can only say positive things about it. It has cut hair drying time, but mostly important my hair looks softer and healthier!! I've been using the same hair products as before so I can say the hair dryer is the miracle. Also, the dryer is not noisy and it makes my hair so straight that I don't have to use the flat iron over and over again the same section of hair as I had to when I used my cheap drugstore blowdryer. I'm very satisfied with the results I've gotten from the Babyliss blowdryer. If you are in the market for a hairdryer and wants salon quality blowout, definitely purchase a Babyliss. This model is perhaps perfect for someone who will not be blowing out their hair as often and has fine, shorter hair. Otherwise get another Babyliss that is lightweight. Since I blow dry my hair once sometimes twice a week I decided to keep this model since I loved it so much and don't mind taking breaks while blow drying my hair so my arm can rest a little bit :)

You'll notice the difference!
I had the Revlon hairdryer for 2 years that cost me around $20ish. It gave me the what I wanted(I. E. Dried my hair) but once I switched to blow drying my hair straight instead of ironing I realized that I wasn't getting the result I wanted. I can't justify spending more than $50+ on a hair dryer, especially if some of them don't have 5 star results. I chose this one because of the reviews, because it came with a concentrator, the watts, and the ceramic technology. I used this blow dryer the same day it came in the mail and let me tell you, you will notice the difference in the quality right away. My hair wasn't so puffy and the straightening process didn't take so long. The concentrator actually works and I can barely feel the hot air anywhere else. What I don't like about this dryer is that the buttons are hard to slide back and forth. There is no grip to them so if your hands are wet you'll probably have a hard time like I do. The weight on this unit isn't a deal breaker, I think that the way you hold it is what puts a strain on your muscles. Just wanted to address that because some reviews are on the exaggerated side. My hair dryer doesn't vibrate, so if yours does, return it ASAP. Keep all your boxes, instructions, etc. Intact and in good condition. My hair still has a bit of static (Winter and all) but I also have new hair growth that doesn't have enough weight to hold it down. If it bothers me I'll use some hairspray. My hair is curly and I like the results I get with this unit. Just a quick tip: Keep your locks hydrated because if not, no matter what hair dryer you get, your hair will become frizzy trying to soak up moisture from the environment and all your work will be wasted.

This dryer is the BEST...three thick hair users agree!
I love this dryer and it I'm still amazed it is so reasonably priced! This dryer is salon quality, and I'm very happy with it! My sister, my oldest daughter and I all share extremely thick hair. We also all have long hair, which is a double whammy. I purchased this dryer in December and loved it from the first day. Recently my sister visited and asked to use my dryer. I said "sure" but did not mention it was anything special. Fifteen minutes later she comes down the stairs and was in shock how fast her hair was dried. Even saying her hairstylist does not dry her hair that fast, and it was only on the warm setting! Same thing with my daughter, she came home from college last weekend and asked to use my dryer because my sister was in her room. Again, I just told her where it was and waited for her reaction. Ten minutes later " that is the fastest I've ever dried my hair, I need one of these! " So here I am ordering another dryer ( for my daughter, she will be so happy!), and thought I would add my first review (it's about time considering I've been a prime member for what seems like a zillion years!). This is huge for us, because when you have thick hair as we do, you only have two options... Let it air dry for atleast two hours before attempting to dry it, or preparing yourself for a dry time of atleast 30 minutes or more. Its so nice to finally have freedom from those delimas! We all are very active, so not washing our hair for more than two or three days is just not an option either. It means waking an hour earlier if you plan to wash your hair, and don't even get me started about those summertime drying requirements...the heat alone is exhausting. This dryer takes all that inconvenience and wasted time away, and it leaves your hair feeling soft and supple, not fried out and in shock as some over heated dryers will do. I felt it was important to let you know, you will be very happy with this dryer. My last dryer was a Chi, and this blows (no pun intended) that one out of the water!

My favorite hair dryer EVER!
I owned an earlier version of this hair dryer, that I bought at RickysNYC for 3.5 years before it finally needed to be replaced this winter. This time around, the price was at least $50 less than what I had paid perviously (I'm sure because there are newer models floating around). But after the success I had with the last one, and the good reviews this one got, I decided to stick with what I knew. This one did not fail me, and has been working great. I have thick, naturally wavy, difficult (at times) hair, about to my shoulder blades that I blow out every (other) day. I am able to dry my hair in less than 25 minutes after a bit of towel drying beforehand. My hair comes out smooth every single time, and I am often asked if I get professional blowouts. This hair dryer has a tremendous amount of power for the price, and is as good as commercial grade. I will say that while there are different settings, it does get hot. I really think this hair dryer is designed for blowout junkies like myself. If you are sensitive to heat, this is not the right hair dryer for you. In the past, I would go through a hair dryer every six months to a year, so 3.5 years is a long time! In fact, it would not have to be replaced, if I didn't drop it and break the switch, as there was nothing wrong with it mechanically. My old model was a lilac metallic plastic (ewww), but worked like a charm, so the new updated black matte design is a nice update. I did read that other users found it to be heavy, but I don't find that to be the case. It's not super light, but again, it has a professional look and feel to it. I have yet to feel that my arm is tired after drying my hair. I can't say enough good things about this item.

The box was smashed, but all is well.....
When the shipping box arrived, it was literally 1 inch thick at one point. The worst shipping damage I'd ever seen. After a great deal of difficulty getting the dryer out of the manufacturer's product box (it was also badly crushed too), I was surprised to discover the dryer was in perfect condition - it survived the mangling with no ill effects. I've owned a similar BaBylis dryer (1750 watts, rather than the 2000 watts of the new one) for years, and I really liked it, in spite of the intermittent power switch that so many folks mention. If I would hold it Just Right, it would start every time, and continue to run until I was done with it. Unfortunately, the rubber strain relief on the cord finally failed, and I was afraid to use it any longer. Enter the new version. It looks and feels just like the old one. It sounds the same, and the fan and heat output even seem to be the same, in spite of the 2000 watt rating, versus the old one's 1750 watt rating. The only obvious change between the two units is the power cord is considerably lighter weight - only time will tell if that's an improvement or a cost cutting measure from the manufacture - I suspect the latter. The old unit's cord was extremely heavy duty, and I think the only way it would fail is if you ran a bulldozer over it. The new one is about the same weight as a typical competing hair dryer - in other words barely adequate for the rated wattage. If the switch holds up better than the old one, and the power cord survives, I'll be a happy camper. Unfortunately, based on the reviews here, it appears the company still has a ways to go - there are quite a few comments describing switch problems, and it seems to be hit or miss whether you get a good one or not. But I'm willing to take the risk, because overall, it's the best hair dryer for me.

Great dryer with lots of power
Works very well. Lots of power. Smoother hair after use. Only slightly heavier than conventional hairdryer but honestly when my arthritis is acting up I don't want to hold a regular hairdryer let alone this slightly heavier one. This one heats up a lot less in the barrel which I'm sure will extend the life of dryer.

Great dryer - didn't last long
I loved this blow dryer - I have really thick hair and it blow dried my hair quickly and my hair never felt over dried. I've had it just for over a year and a half - last night it started smoking and making a high pitch noise. I clean the filter after every use.. It would just turn off and not back on from being too hot, but it would start this as soon as I turned it on. Needless to say, I've tossed it into the garbage. Super disappointed.
