RedGone - Cyanobacteria / Cyano Treatment - Red Slime Algae Remover for Aquariums

Bought it a couple of weeks ago after months of battling against cyano red slime overtaking my 180L reef tank. I'm guessing it was following a phosphate spike after using a dodgy batch of carbon filter. Tried the usual lights out etc methods but it just kept coming back despite all water levels in range.Decided to give this RedGone a try.Instruction was easily downloaded using the link provided on the package (some other interesting products on their website worth looking into at some point in the future).Manually cleared out the bulk of the slime and added the treatment as per instruction. Nothing seem to be happening for a few days and was beginning to give up hope but after 5 days all the red slime had disappeared overnight. It's been a week now and it has not reappeared, not even a slight sign of it. Let's hope it stays that way.

Ended up buying an alternative treatment a month later.

So we recently had a red algae bloom in a fairly mature 3 year old tank. We believe it was from a nutrient build up after a salinity swing from an auto top off malfunction stressed everything out and the corals stopped absorbing their feed plus we lost a few fish....This algae was starting to kill off our SPS so we tried this stuff out of desperation.So within 48 hours all the redness from the algae had vanished and turned a dark green/grey. Within a week it had definitely decreased, however the algae on the corals despite not being red anymore was still there and in the end meant we still lost colonies.The problem is if you haven't rectified the reason why you are getting the red algae in the first place it will start to come back. We are over the hump of it now by reducing feeding, turning the lights down a bit, and weekly 10% water changes. Plus we are planning to add more clean up crew.This is definitely a helpful product but shouldn't be considered an entire solution. Also if you are already starting to lose SPS corals I would recommend fragging a good piece off of it before you lose the whole colony.

Great product, cleared up in 4 days with no side effects

After reading all reviews I thought I would give this a try; went on web site for instructions did everything by the book removed algea ,did water change and waited unfortunately red algea did not clear waste of money. Really disappointed.

This is a good product that will rid your tank of Cyano, no need to turn off the skimmer but remove carbon during treatment.
