Food & Family
I loved all the stories of the cities that Lidia went to and visited the Italian areas. I visited some of them myself and it was fun to remember. Loved the food she talked about and it brought back memories of growing up with my Italian family. Joanne

We love Lidia in Kansas City
We love Lidia in Kansas City. We lucked out when she fell in love with us, too, and decided to put a restaurant in the old freight house near the rail yards of the Crossroads district. Apart from the world-class Italian food, which this cookbook can help you make if you're not here in KC, Lidia's has one of the most spectacular dining rooms I've ever seen, with a beautiful bar, soaring ceilings, fantastic Chihuli glass light fixtures, and a sunny patio for outdoor dining. When you're a mayor, you like to show off your city's best, and although there are a lot of great places to eat (we've made a few recent "best U.S. food cities" lists, with James Beard award-winning chefs and great ethnic neighborhoods), my best show-and-tells have been at Lidia's. The famed menu item is the pasta trioโendless amounts of three pastas, scooped right out onto your plate from hot saute pans. You'll find many similar dishes among these recipes. Everyone should own at least one cookbook by Lidia. This isn't the newest, but it's one of the best.

Recipes to love and make again and again.
We are fortunate to have eaten several times at one of Lidia's restaurants. Many of her dishes are favorites of our family and friends. I was originally given this book as a gift. I have now purchased several as gifts for friends. The Bolognese sauce tastes like what you get at her restaurant and is particularly fabulous made into her lasagna recipe. The meatballs are a great way to serve a crowd. For parties I make a triple batch the day before, heat them in the marinara sauce and serve them on slider buns with a slice of provolone. The book is beautifully crafted with great pictures not only of the food but of the people and places highlighted in the book. The recipes are very clear and easy to follow. One of the things I like best about Lidia's recipes is that they are unique and flavorful. If you want adventure, cook your way through this book. Your taste buds will love you for it. So will your family and friends.

Lidia is Magical!!!
I have many of Lidia's cookbooks and I rarely miss her shows on PBS, even if I have seen them a bazillion times, I always learn something new about cooking, life and family. She and I are nearly the same age and my Mom and her Mom were/are around the same age... I lost my Mom December 31, 2013, and whenever I see her Mother on the show it brings me joy and delights the memories I have of my family! This book really is about family and tradition on many many levels that culminate into her recipes that if it is on her show we can watch from beginning to end,,, and the delightful "taste" is always fun and makes me pretty darned jealous sometimes! LOVE when Grandma tastes with her!!! THis book is a treasury of recipes that are kinda familiar but have the Italian twist, the title of the book says it all... my favorites are the desserts of course and anything with cheese,,, SO I am in heaven!

Lidia's Italy in America Review
I like to watch Lidia on our local PBS station. I personally liked the book. This book is a compilation of recipes from her 26 episodes on "Lidia's Italy in America". You can watch her make the same recipes on TV. It's nice to reference the book while watching an episode. Well done, Lidia! One PBS station wrote, "Join celebrity chef and restaurateur Lidia Bastianich as she embarks on another eye-opening culinary journey. LIDIA'S ITALY IN AMERICA explores the food, artisans and ingredients at the heart of Italian-American cooking. Over the course of 26-half hour episodes, Lidia traces the impact of Italian culture on American food, drink, art, music and fashion. She travels from the East Coast to the South to the Midwest to interview Italian-American families still making wine and vinegar in their garages or curing their own prosciutto, to visit the "Little Italys" keeping old-world traditions alive and to meet third- and fourth-generation Italians putting their twist on authentic recipes." That's it in a nutshell. Lidia also has a wonderful website. You should check it out. [...]

Let's eat!
It works! I love Lydia and her food from her shows and the books. Lydia exposes us to all of Italy and doesn't keep us limited to a specific region.Lydia isn't trying to keep us skinny either! Fit people beware
