Takes Latin a stage further!
As a late starter with Latin, I've found this series of books a great introduction to this wonderful language, from whence stems most of our English language. It is a challenge and you need your wits about to to cope with tenses, nouns, verbs, pronouns etc! Give it go. you really will enjoy the trying!

Poorly bound book
Although I think the new edition of this course book is great, I have had to return the book I was sent because the cover did not actually cover the pages of the book, front or back. On further inspection, it seems that most of the pages of the book are wavy at the top as though they have been water damaged. It might be that trying to force them into a binding that was not wide enough has caused the wavy appearance of the interior pages as there is no staining of the pages. However, the pages have obviously been exposed to humidity which has caused the undulating, tell tale evidence of water damage.

A good introduction to Latin
I am using this book for Latin lessons provided through U3A course. It is excellent for older learners trying to remember their O level Latin.

Good coursebbok, mediocre production quality
The course retains much of its charm and quality. The major improvement on the previous edition is the beefed up background section. It is also good to see females given a greater role, although it does feel overly politically correct in calling slaves enslaved people and slaves not being told off any more. The major gripe is the quality of the books. As another reviewer has said, the pages look rippled at the top, as if water damaged. I emailed the publisher about this and feel I got fobbed off with details of the printing progress. The pages and cover also feel of lesser quality than previous editions. If you are an individual learner, this probably won't affect you, but if you are buying for school pupils, don't bank on them lasting as long as previously.
