My new favorite obsession!
As you can see from the photos this book has been well loved! I’m obsessed with this series! It’s been shared with friends and relatives so thus the not amazing pristine condition but what are books for if not to be loved and read over and over! This book captured me from the first sentence. It is the coziest mystery with adorable animals that talk and live like we do! I love the small town feel. The mystery was so good that I didn’t figure out who did it till close to the end I had suspicions but the story just had me doubting all my theory’s till the very end! It was amazing! A total five star read! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Charming, easy read.
Are you in the mood for a featherweight mystery? Tired of all the bad news, blood, gore, and violence. This book might just be the thing to take you to another world. A world where you can never remember whether the protagonist is really a fox, or a foxy-looking human, and species, much less appearances don't seem to matter to any of the characters. But then, the authors tell us in their "Note" at the beginning that "you may wish to think of the characters merely as humans with particularly animalistic traits...in other words just like you and me." This is not Watership Down meets Daschel Hammet, but more Wind in the Willows as told by Agatha Christie.

entertaining but too cute
This is an interesting detective story that can keep your attention. However the use of animals instead of people sometimes goes overboard, as even the forward recognizes. Can you imagine love affair between a beaver and a sheep?

Charming cute mystery!
What a charming cute mystery about the woodland creatures of Shady Hollow. Otto Stumpf, the grumpy toad, has been murdered and it's up to Vera Vixen, the clever foxy reporter to solve the crime. Both Leonora Lee, the raven who happens to own a bookstore, and Deputy Orville Braun, the large brown bear, lend her a helping wing and paw.

Don't let the cover mislead...
Though this is very anthropomorphic there is still the violence and suspense for an older audience. Kids beware...

Love the series
I’ve read the first three Shady Hollow series and can’t wait for the 4th! I’m 34 and this is an easy read, almost too easy, but i kept reading because the atmosphere of the books are so cozy, and I became attached to the characters! The main character is a little cliched in that she’s always exhausted and chugging coffee….this is detailed many times in each book. Other than that, it’s a gem

Quite a nice little story
'Shady Hollow' is a rather 'different' kind of Cozy Murder Mystery. To put it in Pop Culture terms: its 'Zootopia' meets ' Murder She Wrote.'. When the cantankerous Otto Sumph, the toad, is found murdered the town deputy and local news reporter must solve the case. But Orville, the deputy, is actually a brown bear and Vera, the reporter, is a red fox! The anthropomorphic protagonists transport us to the village of Shady Hollow. With the help of Vera's best friend-a raven named Lenore, who runs the local bookstore, 'Never more' ( I LOVE this!), they manage to track down the killer. Be advised, though, this isn't a kids book. Its just that all the characters are woodland creatures. All in all, I found the book most enjoyable and am looking forward to reading the second installment in the series.

Enchanting
This first book of a series of three is a refreshingly delightful read. Shady Hollow is a peaceful place, home to many different woodland creatures, until one of them is murdered. To restore the mostly tranquil ways of everyday life, it is of the greatest importance to find the culprit.I am so glad to have reserved the second and third editions. I look forward to spending more time with the residents of Shady Hollow.

Lovely book
This is a really fun read, it's on the shorter side but I'm glad I got it. The book itself arrived in great state. The printing seems a bit different from normal paperback books, there was a little fold in the spine for example, but nothing too bothersome.

Shady Hollow
This book is set in a woodland village which is inhabited by creatures who would normally possibly consider each other food.We start with the murder of a toad, discovered by a hummingbird gossip columnist, then passed to a vixen who is an intrepid investigative reporter. More suited to the job than the bear police. Throw in a bookshop owned by a raven, a cafe run by a moose, a factory owned by a beaver and, well, you get the start of a what looks like becoming a really interesting and intriguing series...Honestly, if you can get your head around that then you are in for one heck of a ride with this cosy and very funny book. It's hard to explain what really makes this book special. I guess, if you've ever attributed animal like qualities to people, you'll probably know what I am getting at when I say that it was really easy to just accept the characters as the animals they were. In fact, pretty much from the off, the fact that they weren't human didn't really bother me as the way they were described along with the storyline just compelled me to carry on reading. That is, when I wasn't too busy laughing my head off at some of the antics! Think Wind in the Willows crossed with MC Beaton's Agatha Raisin! And the murder was both interesting and intriguing and had me chasing my tail trying to work it all out ahead of time. Which I didn't! So yeah, kudos for that too...Honestly, if you like your cosy mysteries and want something a little different, a little quirky, do yourself a favour and check this out. I already have book two ready to go...
