Things Are Not the Same

I have been searching for this album in CD form for years. My connection to John Berry goes back to the early '90's listening to him in bars in downtown Athens. I picked up a cassette version of this album way back when and absolutely wore it out. Probably the last cassette tape I have ever played. So glad to have found it on CD! Takes me back...

John's voice is the usual excellent quality. He does the country sound and it is filled with the usual warmness that he puts in his songs. That is because he sings from the heart. I have ordered it because I just knew I was misssing something and finally found it. Thanks, Dorothy

John Berry's strong tenor is the saving grace of this early effort. Berry wrote and produced this collection of typical country fare. Most of the songs are the usual up-tempo or cry in your beer tunes that are fashioned to please conventional country fans. There are two memorable tracks: the catchy LONGING FOR HOME, with its California pop feel and the moving THINGS ARE NOT THE SAME which demonstrates Berry's sensitive vocal. Future releases would provide Berry the opportunity to showcase that talent.

Things Are Not The Same,singers are not the same,I don't play other singers much now ,after listening to Johns voice,when it comes to music choices, things are not the same. My favourite on this cd is So Much Like Heaven,one of his power ballad, beautiful love songs and self penned.Every track is typical of how he writes, Longing For Home, tells you how much he misses home when touring. His love songs he sings with such passion.
