WOW! What a great read. It has great information that can be used immediately and Jill although a former professor is no stuffed shirt. She has a great sense of humor. I'd been speaking for 28 years for other companies before going out on my own. If I had this book and its 27 strategies in 2011 when I started my career as a self-employed speaker life would have been much easier. I’ve read it cover to cover and now I’m going through the Marketing that educates section again as I start to incorporate these tools in my business. This book is like having Jill on the shelf ready to answer all my question.

Lots of great info, no fluff or filler.
Great read. Lots of info packed into this book. I like that you can start anywhere, or use it as a reference for any of the areas covered (which I'm doing quite often). Though the sections are short, they are to the point and there is no fluff or filler. This book sits on my desk so that it's always within easy reach.

Here is a useful guide for business owners to help them better tell the story of their business, communicating their successes, needs and desires in the process. The author sets out to show how versatile communications can be for a business, indicating what can be done and what benefits may be achieved in the process. All in all, 27 different strategies are offered that are designed to help grow and develop a business, being of interest to the smaller, entrepreneurial business whereby the boss and possibly other key employees must be quite versatile and undertake many different tasks at the same time. Practical, real-world advice is taken from many top U.S. companies and brands to show the potential on offer, allowing the reader to see a successful strategy and seek to adapt it to their own requirements. It certainly can be a useful tool to consider for your business armoury, should you feel that your communications may be lacking. Even if you feel things function relatively well, the book’s low price means that it can be an affordable, accessible way to validate your successes too. You only need to find one new idea or even refine something a smidgeon to get your money’s worth and then some.

Clear, concise and useful
In business books like Jill Schiefelbein's "Dynamic Communication: 27 Strategies to Grow, Lead, and Manage Your Business", there is a lot that can seem familiar and you think, "Oh I've heard this before" and sort of skim through. Yet, I felt that Schiefelbein did a really good job of presenting both familiar and new angles on the topic of communication. It well organized and easy to read through. To be honest though, if there is one chapter that made me go from a solid 4 star to a 5 star, it was chapter 3's "Shut Up and Listen" which is a chapter on how to listen to others. Listening is such an underappreciated skill in communicating. Many years ago, I had the fortunate experience of a co-worker telling me straight up when he called in for help that I was so busy thinking of what to do to solve the problem that I wasn't listening to what he was actually saying. Even if I had solved the problem, he would not have been happy because I wasn't really listening to him. I've always kept that conversation in my head through the years and when I got to this chapter, it sold the book for me.I also appreciate that Schiefelbein doesn't overwrite her strategies. She keeps it clear, concise and the reader can move forward or linger if needed. This book is something that I can take to work and try to put some strategies into practice.
