Franciscan Virtues through the Year: 52 Steps to Conversion from Saint Francis of Assisi

For lovers of Saint Francis, this book is a treasure!
Proposing a different virtue of Saint Francis to be imitated each week, this book is a treasure. The authors obviously put a lot of thought and care into arranging the chapters. It's easy and delightful to use and really gets the reader to dig deep into their heart and find practical ways to practice these Franciscan virtues. There's 52 virtues, so it's designed to be read once a week, although it could just as easily be used to focus on a new virtue every month, which would give enough material for four years. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to follow the Franciscan way to perfection.

An aid to self-examination
For members of the CFP, this is naturally required reading for formation, whether initial or ongoing. It combines the pattern of an excerpt on a virtue as shown in the life of Francis the founder, an application to one's own experience, a short guided reflection of this virtue's impact, and a challenge to use one's own examination of conscience to consider how the reader may deepen in the wise and prudent path forward. It closes with scriptural encouragement and suggestions for tying in the considerations to one's continued progress. Very down-to-earth, while avoiding any cutesy tone or condescending hip or dated pop references to be "relevant." The style is modest, and the voice informed. You sense much contemplation has gone into its compilation by the various CFP members. And it can be consulted as a fine companion to Fr Leonard Foley's "Live Like Francis" for Secular Franciscans too. You need not be in either Franciscan movement to find insight from these pages, and it's a calm voice to consult.

A Kind Loving God in a Kind & Happy Saint
Very nice! Read and live the virtue daily for a week or more till it becomes habitual to walk with the simple, kind, & gentle God himself, to think & choose how he thinks & chooses, until we become like Christ himself as he was in the humble & happy Saint Francis of Assisi who loved God in return with so much awe!

Perfect for informative Franciscan history and prayers
This is NOT a time consuming series of meditations. Very good questions to research, very good Franciscan historical information. I am a very busy person and found, meditations aside, it took less that 30 minutes through the week ti record thoughts, impact on me and recording in a journal. I HIGHLY recommend this for any Franciscan. GREAT book!

The meditations cause you to really think. They have a lasting quality that causes to to slow down in your discerning of what you are reading and opens your mind to your interior perception of the virtue.
