Thompson's Water SealTH.043841-16 Waterproofing Stain - Solid, Acorn Brown - 1 Gallon

I wish there had been more color choices, but otherwise the new and improved product is great. It is more of a pudding consistency so it doesn’t splatter, and it spreads just as easily as the more liquid version used to do. It dries much more quickly than the old liquid version did. It dried in less than a day, and we used to expect it to be tacky for two full days. It looks beautiful!

Product applied easily onto a 30 year old deck that had not been maintained for ten years. After replacing the worst deck boards, cleaning and power washing the rest, replacing old nails with screws, and allowing the deck to dry for 5 days, I used a 9" roller and 4" brush to treat the 18' x 7' deck. Used nearly one gallon, as the older wood really sucked it in. The color was brilliant yellow at first but thankfully dried to a slightly softer tannish yellow. Applied a 2nd coat after 2 days of drying to even the color between the new and older boards. I like the product so far (too early to tell how it holds up), but not the color.

I have no doubt that the product works fine. However, I ordered two containers and both were severely damaged. One was so crushed on the bottom that it was leaking. The other was so crushed that I could not use the handle and the pour spout could not be twisted to open. How do I send a leaking container back for a refund? Obviously, I'm stuck with what I got, which is terrible.

Very easy to use and works well. I sanded and stained an bench we leave in our backyard. I followed the instructions and only put on one coat. The first time it rained, the water just pooled up on the boards. The stain looks good as well. I would use this again.

I have used Thompson Waterseal (original) for years. I bought this so I would not have to stain and then seal. My deck looked good after the initial coat. The instructions stated "not to apply a second cost". It lasted about 4 months and now I need to re-stain the deck. I am very disappointed to say the least! Not too sure I will continue to use these products...

Do not buy if you live in the Midwest or where whether conditions change a lot. I did my whole deck in many coats and it looks really nice. When it rains it is sooooo slippery and it pools puddles on each deck board I had to buy a squeegee. My dogs slip on it so bad I had to take her to the Vet. I'd say 30-40% has already worn off just from normal wear and tear. Very dissapointed. I bought a lot of it too, so I'm stuck with 2 containers of it I'm not using.

I went to my deer lease this weekend to put a coat of water sealer on my stand. I put it in a sprayer but the sprayer got jammed. It was lumpy and stringy. Tried rolling it on but also didn't fair well. I have been disappointed in Amazon lately.

Acorn Brown! Needed and got Great coverage! My Deck was splotchy looking from whatever previous home owners had done. I power washed it Monday, stained it Tuesday. Took 3hrs. Applied with paint roller on a wand and touched up with brush. Super easy. Yes it's thick, but my old deck needed it. Soaked it up uniformly and it looks brilliant. Buying woodland cedar for cedar picnic table next!
