Good fabric for the price, time will tell on tarnish prevention!
I bought several yards of this fabric to line jewelry drawers in a dresser. I built custom dividers into the drawer and used this fabric to cover the bottom and sew flaps to lay over the jewelry. My understanding is the trick to getting this type of fabric to work is you want to make every effort to surround the silver in it. Just laying silver down on the fabric alone is not enough to prevent tarnish...hence why I also sewed flaps to cover everything. Overall the fabric seems high quality, it is a little thinner than I had expected, but that's not really a negative. Also, I found once cut, the edges tend to fray very easily, so either use pinking shears or a serger machine like I did. I prefer the serger route because not only does it prevent the fraying, but it also provides a very nice finished edge to the fabric. See my pictures for a better understanding. After handling it a little bit in my workshop there seemed to be a slight fuzz forming on the face of the fabric. Similar to felt, but not as bad, so I don't think this fabric would hold up to very much wear and tear in the long run. Again that's not really a negative, because I don't believe it is intended to serve that purpose. You need to be aware of this and plan accordingly. Don't sew huge pocket or bag from this, fill it with heavy silver/jewelry, and expect it to last very long in your suitcase as you travel. It would be better to use it as a lining to the inside of a padded bag with a more durable fabric on the outside. Only time will tell how long (or even how well) this fabric will prevent tarnish. If I start to see any tarnish forming soon, then you can rest assured I will be updating this review and downgrading my rating. UPDATE 01/11/2016: It has been a year since I used to fabric to line some silver jewelry draws for my mother. I see absolutely no signs of tarnish on any of the silver she has kept covered in this fabric. I was actually looking for tarnished items because I was trying to review a silver cleaner and I had to resort to an old silverware set since this fabric is doing such a good job. For now, still a great item.

FINALLY!!! PROTECTION FOR MY JEWELRY!!!
I have been looking all over for a tarnish proof fabric for my sterling silver jewelry. I never realized how big a yard is especially when it is 58 inches wide. This is a tremendous piece of fabric.. It is very soft and thick, much like the highest quality of flannel you can purchase. I have many small tins with clear tops(The Container Store - sorry Amazon) that I store my silver earrings and pendants. I have lined each one of these with this fabric. I line the container so the fabric comes up to the top and a lttle over the jewelry so everything is touching the fabric. I drop it in a little like a cup cake wrapper. I also have a lucite piece with 3 drawers and lined each drawer. It is not only a tarnish protector but protects the jewelry from sliding around and prevents damage from scratching. You can protect any type of jewelry from sliding around, it doesn't have to be silver..You can even cut out one small piece and line the small plastc zip lock bags that alot of jewelry is shipped in when you order online. A few months will tell how tarnish proof this is but I have no reason to doubt it's effectiveness. No one else has complained. I am very happy with this and the price is much less than most other tarnish proof cloths on the market. I still have so much fabric left over.

DIY anti-tarnish bags
It works, and the material is easy to sew to make bags for different odd-shaped silverware items like large platters or tea service containers. Will save me re-polishing time and effort. Except that, since Fabric Hut only lists one dimension for the fabric (length, by the yard), you may, if like me, you are not a frequent flyer fabric buyer, end up ordering too little material and having to re-order more later. Time saving? Not yet... but the dream lives on! Of course, you could, unlike me, be proactive and call a Psychic Hotline to have the width of the fabric revealed to you ahead of time. Or (and I am embarassed to even offer up this un-creative suggestion) maybe Fabric Hut could just prevent any buyer uncertainty by just telling us the width of the fabric in their ad in the first place. You know, like I asked them to do after the first order... a long time ago... when I was young... and innocently expected Homer Simpson to not only read, but to take a well-meaning customer's suggestion to heart. Now I know that it truly can be a cruel world, but rather than dashing my hopes, I find that this setback only serves to deepen my resolve: I will persevere, and one day, one fine and glorious day, sweet success will be mine! And the heirloom tea set will be safely bagged.

The Perfect Problem Solver
This silver cloth was perfect for stitching up storage bags for my silver service. I'm thinking of ordering more to create drawer liners for some misc. silver flatware. (Infused silver cloth bags save on the need for frequent polishing! Who wouldn't like that?) The "old fashioned" quality was impressive...as was the prompt shipping service.

Wonderful product
This is really great stuff. I've been looking at all these expensive jewelry boxes with anti tarnish interiors to keep your silver jewelry clean. I have beautiful jewelry boxes but they didn't have anti tarnish material. Now they do. I lined my boxes with this cloth, put my vast silver jewelry in clean, and the rest has been wonderful. Whatever I go to get - it clean, shiny and ready to wear. Such an easy solution. Plus, you get so much of this cloth for very little money. You can split it with a friend and line many jewelry boxes. Great buy.
