The only thing that leaves a little to be desired is the variable speed switch this is more of a personal preference but I prefer full speed to not be next to the off portion of the variable speed. Due to this being the case I was not always able to get full speed out of the fan so I bypassed the variable speed switch and hooked it directly up to get the max speed out of the fan.

I bought this for an exhaust system in my garage. It is not that loud and works great. You can hold your hand by the intake duct (not the fan) and feel the air being sucked through like a giant vacuum.

I hooked this up to my laser enclosure with 4-to-6 inch adapters. This moves a lot of air so no, it's not extremely quiet. But when the laser is running and its tiny high speed fans fire up, they completely drown out this fan. And this fan is quieter than the air filter I had been using. I needed more air flow so I'm skipping the filter and just piping the air straight out a basement window.

So many reviews complaining about it being too loud but if i have mine turned on max its no louder than the small circular fan i have in my 2x4 grow tent. Took care of the smell completely. Great for the price

Good: The fan moves a LOT of air.Not so good: The fan is LOUD. The noise measures 73 decibels at 3 feet, which is hundreds of times more sound energy than claimed in the description. (The decibel scale is logarithmic.) This was no surprise to an engineer, since any device moving that much air through such a small opening simply has to make a lot of noise. Just be aware of what you are getting.

I bought this fan to suck the air off of my fiber laser when engraving things such as plastic or wood. This fan really has some suction. There have been times when it has sucked a piece of paper from across my desk into it! I highly recommend this product if you need a compact way to move large volumes of air! Not to mention this thing is incredibly quiet!
