Frustrated. A little more effort would have gone a long way
So let's be real. We are not expecting a PSP or Nintendo Switch at this price. What I am expecting is poorly made device running illegal copies of old school games.Design:To be fair, I got what I was expecting. It does not feel sturdy like a game boy or any of the main stream handhelds we grew up with. It looks and feels like it was quickly made by melting some plastic in a mold. Besides the feather like weight and cheap texture, id say the mold is pretty decent given the price. Everything lines up where it's supposed it, I don't feel like it is going to fall apart, and I haven't run into any issues due to design.Controls in general - My biggest problem with this system is that they mapped the buttons wrong. Playing NES for example, A and B are reversed. Other systems, i need to sit down and do some testing to figure out what they did. I suspect that in some systems they may not have mapped all the buttons. Playing Mortal Kombat for example, I tried every button available but could not find the high punch, so no uppercuts :(THERE IS NO WAY TO RE-MAP BUTTONS!! I wouldn't have been upset if there was a way to configure the button mapping. I see nothing in the UI or the useless manual to reconfigure buttons.Buttons - Cheap feeling, but not so cheap that you don't want to use it. You can push through and get used to it. It is difficult to see the letters on the buttons, but it doesn't really matter as button layouts will be different for each console.D pad - Is pretty solid, maybe a little too solid. Again, you can get used to it. For playing Mario it is fine, but you're going to upset if you want to play street fighter, or any game with rolling movements.Analog Stick - Egh. It works. It feels like using a d pad while holding a quarter over it.No shoulder buttons - If you like super nintendo, don't expect L and R..Power switch - Oh boy. ha. it's fine. you're not being buying the system for the power switch, but expect to be laughed at if your friends use it. I expect this will be the first piece to break.Volume - The volume wheel at the bottom is similar in quality to the power switch. It's a super rigid wheel. Works well, and feels sturdy. Sound quality really poor mono sound. On some games its fine, on others it's very obvious where you want to mute it. No complaints on the actual volume, It's been fine and I haven't turned it up all the way yet.Head phones - Nope. I thought this was a given, but there are no headphones.Games - Here we go.1. Half the games are not in english. It's English in the menu, but once you fire it up Japanese (assuming, i can't tell).2. There is no rhyme or reason to the order of games in the menu. No way to bookmark favorites, etc.3. You can backup/erase all the games and load your own. That much is really simple if you have a basic understanding or roms, and organizing a folder. For me, I'll be renaming most of the content and replacing with some of my own. I'll be using an "_" prefix for the roms a like so they show up first in the menu.4. The home screen has some "featured" games which is nice. However, the folder on the sd card for this is ignored, you can't change which games are there.Summary:I want to say "for the price, its great", but I just can't. You need to avoid this system unless you only care about nes and gameboy. The fact that the buttons are mapped wrong is frustrating. But not providing an option to fix the problem makes the entire product a flop. I can not use this, more importantly i don't want to use it. It's not fun, it's completely aggravating.

This Is Awesome!!
Great value for the money! Lots of fun games. You can save your progress. Adjust the sound & it's a little fun getting it into English but doable! I think it's more nostalgia or geared to kids as the adult I gifted was being picky in my opinion. He said it lagged a little on Mario with the screen and the button placement was weird to him. I think it's fun and it came well packaged. Lots of cords to charge or plug into TV. Haven't done that part but it charged just fine. I charged two hours and we have gotten four hours plus of play with battery still full. Screen is bright and easy to see. Little stumped on navigation and such but for the price I could see a child or an unpicky adult having a ton of fun! Hoping a postive review gets this noticed cause I only found after a week of researching!! Definitely worth the money!
