My WeighSCMiM01 iM01 1000g by 0.01g, Dual Display Scale

I use this scale for cosmetic chemistry and it works for what I need it for.PROS/CONS1. It's VERY VERY sensitive. It can be annoyingly sensitive sometimes actually, but it's accurate and gets the job done.2. Calibration takes about 15-20 seconds to do so it's not a big hassle.I usually to calibrate it before each use so I've gotten into the habit of doing that. It doesn't go too far off it's calibration--it's usually about +/- .01-.04 which isn't too bad--,but I prefer to have my measurements as accurate as possible.3. The rechargeable batteries last a very long time before needing juice again. I charged it when I first got it (January 2015) and didn't need to charge again until March. I don't use it everyday, but it gets used 15-20 days out the month so it holds a pretty decent charge.4. This scale doesn't do well with hot containers. It'll start displaying negative numbers when you place a hot (120oF and up) vessel on it and/or jump around.5. You have to re-adjust the adjustable feet every time you change the surface the scale is on. It has a nifty little leveling tool on the front of it to help level the scale to perfection.6. It has an annoying beeping noise every time you press a button that I have not found a way to disable. It's not just annoying, it's loud.7. The display is nice. It's very similar to that of a classic calculator, but red and with a light. The display is very easy to see from multiple angles and in low light. There's even a display on the back for easy reading.8. It has many internal stabilizing features that help with accuracy. It has so many features that I'll personally probably never use, but I'm sure many will find them useful.9. Cleaning is fairly easy to do with a damp cloth or paper towel. I used alcohol to clean off certain residues and doing that made a few spots on the weighing plate to rust. It was only a few very small spots so I'm not worried.10. This scales requires a 500g calibration weight per the manual which are cheaper than 1000g and up weights.11. It has a resolution of .01 grams.12. It made completely out of plastic. The only thing that's not plastic is the weighing plate and the surface around it. It's a brushed metal that doesn't like alcohol or water to be left on it. It more than likely wouldn't survive a fall so be careful.13. I couldn't remove the cover the weighing pin.Conclusion:This scale is amazing and glad the price was low enough for me to buy one. It's very useful and accurate, and helps me to get the job done.Update 8/22/2020: The battery no longer holds a charge and the scale has to use mains power. Other than that, this scale has been amazing! It still calibrates accurately, it still works flawlessly all these years later, and it still gets used regularly. I believe I bought mine used for $83 and I do not regret my decision. I finally was able to pull the cover off the load cell protection screw area and found a screw that fit, but it doesn't do anything. It doesn't lock the load cell at all and the potential for damage during transportation is definitely there.

The displays (front and back of the scale) are a 7 segment LED type, reminiscent of those all 1980s Texas Instrument calculators.The scale consistently and repeatably measured accurately. We are using it for counting the contents of containers of pills and record them using a laptop.I bought this scale to connect to a Mac laptop via a USB to serial cable. The scale works very well, and the rechargeable built-in battery is a nice touch.If you are going to connect this to a Mac or Windows PC then you'll need a female to female null modem cable, like this  StarTech.com 10-Feet DB9 RS232 Serial Null Modem Cable F/F (SCNM9FF)

This is the second one that we have purchased. The battery died on the first in under 2 years with almost daily use, so this time we got the extended warranty.

Due to weight of internal LI-ION battery, the plastic cover retaining the battery on the bottom of the scale was damaged in shipping. The small plastic tabs securing the cover were broke off, thus the battery cover would not stay on and battery would hang from unit. Never even tried the scale as this defect was unacceptable.

Works well. For this price point I'm pleased with the ease of use and the quality look and feel.
