I was looking for a simple, temporary tach for my 2003 xl1220c Sportster. The bike does not have a tach. I've never owned a Harley and knew that if I could just have a tach on board for a few days, I'd learn what the bike likes as far as revs at shift points and cruising speed. It also was great at helping me get my idle correct. It even came out of the box set for 4 stroke, 2 cylinder motors (one spark per rotation) It's been working great, but I suspect the battery that came with it is weak as the display isn't very strong. It's okay, I just wouldn't be surprised if it showed stronger contrast if i put a new battery in it. Anyway, this was just the right thing. Self-powered, super easy to connect and then take off. I'd recommend it.

Upon arrival customer/user should remove the battery cover and pull out the plastic shield protecting battery then reinstall battery, which I did. The display is supposed to turn on by pressing either button, but it did not. You don't have to have the wire wrapped around the sparkplug for it to receive a signal to turn on. You are supposed to be able to turn it on and off at any time before hooking to spark plug wire to set it to your specific engine -2 stroke, 4 stroke and other settings, but would not turn on at all and I checked the battery with a multimeter, registered 3.2 volts so the battery was working, plus I had already tried 2 different batteries but not turning on. No display. And I have seen out of the box reviews on this same unit, they are supposed to turn on after properly installing the battery, right out of the box, then you can set them. They don't need to be connected to anything to work, that's why they come with a battery. ****************** Updating my review of the product there is something that blocks the battery from making contact while in storage, or shipping that you will have to remove so I'm changing my complete review of the product. Everything works as it should. It was just a user error, lol

I had to use different P/R settings to match what my outboard motor is but once I got it set, it works great. I love having the hours and the RPM's showing. I am not sure I will really use the number of hours until servicing because I service my motor at least once and sometimes twice a year anyways. It's just a little 6hp Tohatsu so it's super easy to service so there's no reason to wait until you hit the certain number of hours. It is a nice feature though.

Short cord, not long enough to reach the engine from the front of a gokart. The buttons don't work well, have to push hard on them multiple times to finally scroll through the screens. Most disapointing is that it's not even close. My engine does NOT idle at 4,000 RPM! I verified the proper setting in the instructions and tried different number of windings on the spark plug cable. The hours meter works fine. I paid more for this than others that were available hoping for a better product but it simply doesn't work.

I purchased a new 20 hp outboard last year and just couldn't get the speed out of it that I knew it was capable of. I suspected the factory supplied prop on it was the wrong size and not allowing the motor to come up to its full 6200 RPM. Figured I'd try this device to check it out . The unit itself seems well designed and well built. Instructions were good. Installation took all of 10 min. ( I've got it mounted to the front of the engine cowling with Velcro so I can always monitor RPM and engine hours.) Turns out I was only getting 5700 RPM with the prop I had. After I put on a faster prop, I'm getting 6150 at WOT and gained 7 MPH.

So I returned the first two, third one was a charm. Only reason I bought same brand is I drilled and mounted for this brand on first one. It seems to work ok, I bought it mostly as an hour meter and seems to work fine. The RPM gauge is way too high and nothing can do to fix it. I tried all the recommended steps but nothing seems to bring it down. It shows my idle at 4K and no way it’s that high. It’s a good hour meter, that’s about it.

Great little digital tach, given it's low price point! Installed on my 6-wheeler ATV with a single-cylinder, 4-stroke motor. At first, thought it was defective because I got no display, then decided to check the battery and found a plastic safeguard installed in battery compartment to keep it from running down before sale. Once removed, got it up and running without difficulty. So, if you have no display at all, check & REMOVE that plastic insulator inside the battery compartment (for some reason, the instructions make NO MENTION of this at all)! Note to others, in my case the signal wire was a little too short, but I was able to extend successfully by splicing in an extra 3 feet of the smallest wire I had handy (24AWG speaker wire, which is a tad bit larger than the tiny 2-conductor 26AWG inside the signal wire), but still worked fine. Contrary to other reviews which imply the signal wire is just a single wire, there are actually TWO tiny 26-gauge wires inside the signal wire outer insulation (one is red & the other black). To extend, you just splice a small gauge wire to each and make sure you don't accidentally short them out by letting them touch at the end where you wrap them around the spark plug wire. Easy-peasey!

Eigentlich war das Gerät nur als Betriebsstundenzähler gedacht. Da jetzt der Drehzahlmesser in meinem UL ausgefallen ist, benutze ich das Gerät temporär auch dafür. Montage ist kinderleicht, Einstellung mit der Anleitung einfach (wenn man Englisch kann). Gerät funktioniert einwandfrei, schaltet sofort auf Drehzahl, wenn der Motor startet. Die Drehzahlanzeige läuft nicht ganz in Echtzeit, steigt oder sinkt mit einer kleinen Verzögerung in Schritten, aber das ist für meinen Zweck nicht relevant. Besonders gut: man kann die Batterie wechseln.

A nice simple solution for tracking hours run on a mower; not entirely sure the RPM readout is accurate (even with the suggested method of revising how many times you wrap the wire around the spark plug) but this isn't really critical anyway. The main thing is that it tracks the hours the engine runs, and it does this fine. Comes with sticky velcro pad to mount, and some dodgy translated instructions that you can thankfully understand fine... Time will tell how long it lasts on the battery, and I'll try and update on this when it runs out, but for now one happy camper.

Era muy escéptico a la hora de comprarlo. Venía de malas experiencias con tres tipos diferentes de tacómetros chinos que siempre eran una auténtica estafa y de nula precisión. Pero con este me he llevado una grata sorpresa positiva. En mi caso, montado en una Suzuki Marauder 125 del año 2010, opté por consultar el manual de taller para saber cuales eran las RPM a las que gira el motor en frío, en caliente y su margen de tolerancia. Tras haber configurado el tacómetro, la instalación no lleva apenas tiempo. Tardas más en ocultar cables que en instalarlo. Tras la puesta en marcha de mi motor... ¡sorpresa! Los valores de ralentí tanto en frío como en caliente dadas por el fabricante coinciden con una desviación de apenas 50 RPM, lo cual es asombroso. Una vez en carretera, la velocidad de lectura (configurado a 0.5 sec de tasa de refresco) da unos valores casi exactos en función de la marcha y velocidad alcanzada y que coincide por muy poco con los valores dados en el manual de taller. Su precisión es admirable. En mi caso le di seis vueltas de cable y aún me sobró mucho para poder tener holguras y no preocuparme por roturas por tensión, entre otros. Se puede configurar muy rápido. Sus instrucciones en inglés son sencillas, bien explicadas y no necesitan de un nivel de conocimiento del idioma avanzado. La pantalla puede retroiluminarse pernamentemente mientras se circula de noche, sólo hay que acceder al menú y seleccionar "L-ON" para la pantalla. Para apagarlo del todo, sólo hay que pulsar los dos botones que trae a la vez y en dos segundos queda apagado del todo no mostrando ningún valor en la pantalla. Cuando el motor se pone en marcha, la pantalla tras unos segundos, se enciende sola. Sólo hay que recordar apagarla siempre que dejemos la moto apagada. Es por esto que, para el precio que tiene, dispone de un acabado resistente, facilidad de instalación reducida al mínimo y sobretodo, precisión exacta. Respecto a que no se ve bien (hay usuarios que dicen que si es la pila, etc...) la solución es bien sencilla. Sólo hay que colocarlo en el ángulo de visión correcto para que la pantalla ejerza de lupa y se vea con muy buena claridad de día. Quizá le falta algo más de definición, pero incluso a pleno sol si se angula en el ángulo correcto, esto no es problema. Comprobado. Lo recomiendo porque de verdad, funciona.

コンパクトでスペースを取らない作りで、取り付けも簡単に出来ました。 エンジンの回転数をチェックするのに十分です。 回転数ＭＡＸrpm確認出来るのがとても良かった。 残念なのは、夜間走行中は真っ暗で見えないこと位です。

Gebruik deze op m`n buitenboord motor. Na 2 jaar nog steeds prima. Batterijen gaan ongeveer 1,5 jaar mee.
