Great flexibility and many uses.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. These can be modified by adding 14 gauge twisted wire as leads to improve the install process. I used a double side tape to adhere then to a double gang wall plate. The leads that I added allowed me to make connections in the wall and neatly tuck it all away. The reason I installed on the exterior is so that you still have an option to use it as a switch. This is very helpful if the internet is down. They are only rated at 10 amps and are fuse protected. They work well with Alexa, the app, and as a switch. For$6.50 you can't go wrong. Plus consider simply splicing into a dollar tree extension cord and you have a smart cord for $7.50. Pretty cool stuff.

Great for controling lights and fans with Alexa
They work great for home automation. Once powered, set up with the eWeLink app is quick and simple. I'm using them to controll the lights in my house by adding a switch/outlet box below the light switches. If you know basic electrical wiring it's pretty simple to just wire it in after the manual switch. I decided to wire them in sequence so I can still manually control the dimmer and have the sonoff switch turn off the light even with the manual switch turned on. You don't need the neutral output from the sonoff switch if your fixture (light, fan, etc.) Is wired to a neutral, but you do need neutral and line input to ensure the switch has a current and stays on.

For the DIY'er, these are the easiest, cheapest way to convert common light switches to WiFi control!
If you know your way around electricity, and can work safely with your home wiring, these will save a lot of time and expense! Each module requires a line and a neutral for power, and fortunately my home is wired with neutral wires available at each wall switch, rather than just a "switch leg".Pairing these can be a challenge though, usually requiring multiple tries, so I found some helpful hints:HOMES WITH MORE THAN ONE WiFi ROUTER -Switch off ALL routers except the one you wish the Sonoff module to connect to; even if you have adequate signal from your desired router, interference from others can make pairing impossible. I learned this the hard way.IF YOU HAVE 802.11 A, 802.11 AC, or 802.11 ACS ROUTERS -Be sure your mobile device is connected to your 2.4 GHz link, not your 5 GHz link; this device uses the 2.4 GHz band with 802.11 b, 802.11 g, or 802.11 n wireless protocols and cannot communicate over a 5-GHz connection. I learned this the hard way also. These devices are hackable, using the ESP 8266 SOC, they can be re-flashed to use MQTT which "internalizes" the devices, meaning you don't need cloud services to operate them, but you will have to set up an MQTT "broker" (Raspberry Pi does this very well) to use it.Obviously, since the output of the module is a simple SPST relay contact point, it is not readily suitable for two-way switches, and bridging the contacts of a common wall switch will allow the device to connect and disconnect power as long as the wall switch is in the "off" position, but it cannot turn a light off if the wall switch is in the "on" position. This also presents a real danger, since a light socket may become "hot" without warning if the module is activated, during a bulb change, for example, even if the wall switch is in the "off" position. I have some yellow stickers that read "CAUTION: This socket is driven by an automated system and may become energized at any time", which I place near the bulbs inside the fixtures as a safety warning.

Beware - no longer working with Alexa and IFTTT
These were working fine (better than other more expensive smart switches) until recently. Now, they no longer respond to Alexa or IFTTT and as they do not have a working local non-cloud based (LAN) control method implemented, these smart switches are basically useless.Very disappointed, and ITEAD/Sonoff CS does not seem particularly responsive. Will revise rating if and when the server and LAN control issues are resolved.

It is a wifi switch that in-turn can be turned off or on using your smart phone or Amazon Dot or Google Home/Mini
If you are into home automation, etc. this gadget is a must. It is a wifi switch that in-turn can be turned off or on using your smart phone or Amazon Dot or Google Home/Mini. To use, you simply take a $1.35 6-foot extension cord... then "splice" the cord through the switch. So simple even I can do it in a matter of just a few minutes. The instructions that come with it are easy and complete. You have a choice: A) spend $30 something on a premade wifi plug, or B) get one of these simple devices for less that $10... each performing equally the same. I like saving the 20 bucks. It's limits (typical for any similar device) is 10 Amps and 240 watts. I say Sonoff is Son-ON.

These are not UL certified and the quality is crap
These devices may work fine when installed inline with an extension cord using 14-16AWG wiring. That being said, if you were considering to use these with std 120vac circuits using 12AWG wiring installed directly with appliances like light fixtures, and receptacles you should reconsider. The construction is flimsy and would not be sold by US electrical retailers because these devices would not meet NEC code. 1st device I opened had a broken button and could not be pairs. 2nd device the terminal screws blocks broke off of the pcb once I attempted to install 12awg conductors. The manufacturer is obviously a foreign company that considers english-speaking user experience an after-thought. I hoped for the price they might be an affordable solution to replace light switches but off the bat they are too tight to fit in most single-gang electrical boxes.

This device needs to be reprogrammed every time there is a power interruption
Norma reliable, requires reprogramming every time that there is a power failure as the memory does not store the wifi details.Do not purchase this product
