Monsters of the Deep (Choose Your Own Adventure - Dragonlark)

Despite knowing the author himself, I bought these in hopes that my nieces and nephew would like them. And they really did! The outlandish creatures to what they normally see on TV, movies, or other coloring books was a nice change for them. I always like to try coloring things myself to see the number of ways I can do certain designs prior to giving them the book. I figure, the more the better in terms of colors and possibilities. If I can find multiple ways to like the outcome of my work, so will the kids. Rob's work does that brilliantly. I eagerly look forward to what creatures he comes up with next!

I always loved CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE books when I was a kid in the 80's, and its so great that kids today can enjoy them as well. A great book for kids to keep them interested and motivated to read.

The story starts out alright with the protagonist wanting to dive in a shallow bay. But after a few pages it turns into something resembling a fairy tale or dreamscape. There are several non-sequiturs where it feels like maybe content was cut to keep the book short. E.g. at one point the hero is about to drown in a giant tsunami yet on the next page that tsunami turned out to be a tiny little wave and everybody is cheerful.The illustrations are full page and quite nice. Though you can tell that the illustrator worked for Disney - look for "Tigger" in one of the images (and don't tell Disney so they don't sue).

My son's read the collection of books as kids, now they're grown and I'm purchasing them again as a memory gift as well as for my grandchildren!

My 7 year old son really enjoys these multiple ending books. They keep him engaged and reading because he can control the outcome,
