Worked like an charm on my toy box!
I wanted to get a little support for the lid of my sons Toybox and was a little unsure which struts to go with. I saw some mixed reviews on these especially regarding installation so was hesitant but went with them first anyway. Installation took about 20 minutes total for both struts. I probably could just installed one and been done, but the lid is fairly heavy and I was worried about it slamming down if someday it failed. Installation was simple. For what it’s worth, the hardest part about it was converting the measurements on the instructions from millimeters to inches. I adjusted them to hold the lid open to just over 90*, and it still fully closes at a slow rate so any pinched fingers shouldn’t have much of any force behind it. If you just tap it shut, it takes 5+ seconds for the lid to actually close which is great. Even when I only had the first strut installed, it closed a little bit faster but it was still at a relatively safe speed for my application.

Works Perfectly !
I purchased these struts for a toy box I built for my kids. The lid weighs about 20 pounds. They arrived without any instructions. I searched online and then remembered Amazon had some instructions on where to attach the brackets. They work perfectly! I had one small adjustment to make (see picture). I tried using 1 strut only, but didn’t like how the lid was closing. Adding the second strut makes it better (see video).

Easy to install, sturdy and an important safety feature for storage chests.
I watched the installation video which helped a great deal. The instructions are somewhat vague if you do not understand the mechanics of the hinges. It took me what felt like less than 5 mins to install a hinge on both sides. I didn't have to follow the measurements to install the top screw exactly- instructions recommend to use the same distance from the side of the box, but I had upholstered fabric that took up a bit more room so I went in another half inch or so and it still worked out just fine. The hinge extends out with some resistance and closes very slowly. It has brought life back to two of my flat top storage benches so I would highly recommend these hinges.
