Does this have a flame lock? I don't see mention of it anywhere - sorry if I overlooked it!

This item does not offer a flame lock. The flame will go out as soon as the trigger is released. The flame may go out on the lowest setting.

How low will the flame go? Does it stay lit with an short flame? I've been searching in vain for a torch with a mild flame. They all go out on low.

Difference between high and low is not much.

What altitude is this tested for?

I have no clue. I'm not much. Where I am it is 650Ft above sea level.

Is there a specific butane can/brand or something needed to fill these?

Any brand should work, it doesn't need a special tip. I would recommend putting the fuel in in 1 or 2 second bursts. Pumping it like seems to work best and wastes less. Fuel is available lots of places from $1.50 to $4.00. I wouldn't pay more than that.
