Phillips Norelco 9985 is worth it!
At first I didn't expect this new shaver to out perform better than my Braun Series 7 razor, but it does much better. The functionality of my new Phillips Norelco 9985 razor makes shaving done in 5 minutes or less, it feels like a facial massage while using it, and I keep up with shaving every two days just to maintain that close shave feel. The best razor I have ever bought in a long time. :)

Works exactly as described with a close shave
I’ve tried for years to find an electric razor that works with a shave comparable to a wet shave. Found it with this razor. Excellent and performs just as advertised.

Does the Job but Does not Represent a Step Forward in Overall Design
My trusty Norelco shaver of many years was finally starting to make strange sounds so replaced it. The new model does as good a job of shaving which is what I bought it for so I'm giving it 5 stars. The easy way to flip the top open for cleaning is nice. The graphic display is OK and I really like the travel lock capability. I have no interest in a blue tooth connection to an extra app on my phone which will provide some diagnostic information that I don't feel adds any value added - this is just a razor. The blue/green/amber lighting to show how close one is shaving seemed silly but turns out to be OK. The overall size of the unit seems larger than necessary and ergonomically a little awkward but the weight is reasonable. The square geometric shape of the shaver head assembly is a definite step backward from previous designs and limits how close one can get sideburns, mustache, etc. and requires the flip-up trimmer which is just OK at best. Overall, the razor does what I need but would have been better if it was smaller and a little more contoured in shape with less frills.

Shaver concerns
The shaver shaves very close and smooth. However, shaving under the nose is difficult and does not get the hairs very well. In addition there is no rhyme or reason as to to how to turn off the shaver, or how to start up on a new day. .Sometimes I get a welcome, other days I have to go through the 3 settings. It would have been nice to just press the on button to begin shaving. It is also to be mentioned that the on/off button does not always go on/off.

Smooth and Close Shave
Very smooth and close shave. I've tried different versions of their razors. They're all good, but this one is by far the best. The shave is quick and close, and there is a light that shows you if you are using enough pressure or too much pressure. It has a nice clipper attached, but unless other versions there is no attachment I saw to shave hair at different length.

Impressive Shave
I upgraded to this S9800 model from the S7700 series shaver. The designs are very similar in terms of ergonomics, but I think the shave head surface is a little different between the two with the 9800 providing less resistance when gliding over the skin. I was interested in upgrading to get the pressure sensor feature. And I have had 2 of the 7700 series shavers where the Sense IQ feature stopped working. Both were replaced with new units under warranty. But after the 2nd one failed, I decided to upgrade. Glad I did.I have read some reviews that noted the pressure sensor and light ring are just a gimmick. It lights up in 3 colors indicating too little pressure (blue light), good pressure (green light) and too much pressure (orange light). My first shave wasn't all that close as I was trying to keep the light ring green. HOWEVER, I found in the companion app the ability to customize the pressure sensor for the type of shave you do (dry or wet) and if you use shaving cream or not and how close of a shave you want (standard, close, closest). When I set it up for the closest wet shave with shave gel, it definitely changed the pressure necessary to get the green light to come on. My shave today was perfect. Closest shave I think I have ever had, even on my neck which is usually a trouble spot for me. So, definitely NOT a gimmick. It works as advertised. In addition, through the app, you can adjust the colors used if you are color blind so you can tell the difference between the pressures and what it is trying to tell you.I am not aware of any ability to change this pressure setting using just the menus/display on the handle. So if you aren't using the companion app, try that out. It makes a difference. I know you can turn the light ring on or off using the menus, but not sure about pressure setting.Got the shaver here on Amazon for a great price when compared to what Philips sells them for on their website.

Fast, smooth and clean.
Simply the best electric shaver I have used. The shaving is so fast and efficient. The shave is smooth and close, I no longer have to use a regular razor to clean up. It's easy to clean, battery life is great. I have no complaints. I have always used Norelco so I don't have lots of experience with other razors, but for me this is truly the best I have used.

Really Nice
I loved my previous Norelco SP9820 but I needed new blades. Additionally, after 15 years of use the rechargeable battery was not holding a charge as well as it once did. I decided to do some research. I settled on the 9500 and I am very pleased. After using it for more than two months I can attest that I get a quicker and closer shave than my old SP9820 used to give me. I find the blades do a better job in those hard to get at spots like under my nose. Two other big positives are the led indicator light that tells you if you are pushing down to hard or lightly on the blades, and the built in side-burn trimmer. My old Norelco required me to swap cutting heads to use the trimmer. The 9500 trimmer is fine for side burns, but I don't think it's designed for beards or heavy mustaches. There are also features that I haven't tried like the Bluetooth connectivity. I really don't need my razor to send me a report on how well I shave my face. There is also a accessory for cleaning the razor heads that I don't use. I find brushing the heads daily and then washing them once a week with mild soap works fine. All in all I am very happy with this Norelco shaver.
