UPDATE - I did add some to the wash, following package directions, when I washed my cloth shower curtain with rust stains from hard water near the bottom. Up to then, nothing else had worked. One wash and the stains on my white cloth shower curtain were gone. ORIGINAL REVIEW - I purchased this to clean, and hopefully prevent, iron stains in my bathroom toilet. The inside of the tank was almost black from 65 years of accumulated rust stains, and the stains leached into the bowl, causing dark streaks running down the inside of the bowl. It seemed as soon as I cleaned them, they were back. I purchased this product in the hope that if I could clean the rust stains from the inside of the tank, it would keep the bowl from staining so quickly. I had read it would make the inside of the tank look white, again, almost like new. I was skeptical. But it does work VERY well. I followed the directions and put 1/2 a cup of the powder into the tank just before bedtime. The next morning, when I looked in the tank the water was very murky. I flushed a couple of times and saw that the sides of the tank seemed slightly lighter, but still very dark. So I repeated a second night. The next morning the water was not as murky as the morning before, but still quite dark. I decided to brush the inside of the tank, for good measure. After that, the water was as murky as the day before. However, the inside of the tank was now a very light gray. So I repeated the treatment for a third night. That did the trick! The stains are now all but gone. The inside of the tank is an almost-pristine white, and in the week since I finished cleaning it, the bowl has stayed a pristine white. Now I can’t wait to try it for removing the rust stains from the bottoms of my cloth shower curtains. Nothing else I’ve tried to date has worked.

Great. Takes the stains out. But i would not use in in a load of laundry. Not a good idea.

This stuff really works. It removes hard water rust stains. The smell is not pleasant, but disappears once the Iron Out is washed away. Easy to use and works quickly.

I used this product to remove rust from our concrete patio area. I wet the area with water and mixed 1.5 cups of the product with 1.5 gallons of water. It says to keep the area wet with the solution until the rust is gone (keep in mind that the area of rust was from an iron patio umbrella base that was moved around a 4 ft. diameter area with dark stains). After 15 minutes It appeared to be about the same. I added another .5 cups of the Iron Out. I keep the area wet and after about 25 minutes the rust just seemed to melt away. After about 50 minutes the rust from the concrete was completely gone. Rinsed off the area with a garden hose and was done. Do this before the sun comes up or in the shade makes the job much easier. Very impressed with this product.

Great little product

This is simply AMAZING. The water in my area is extremely HARD. I have a great 5 year old toilet and for 4 years I have unsuccessfully scrubbed the extreme rust like deposits. To be truthful the mineral build up looked like ‘poop’. I soaked it overnight with white vinegar and scrubbed with the pumice sticks. Nothing budged it. I just now did an hour of soaking and it is Pristine. Thank you for this product. I adhered to the safety procedures. I will never be without this product.

I am sure this product works for some, my experience was a no. Have a rust ring around the drain in my bathroom sink. At least I think it’s rust. I followed the directions on the bottle and did not have success in removing the red/brown ring. It’s possible that it’s lime scale and this simply is the wrong product for what I need. I am not knocking the product, simply sharing that it didn’t help in my situation. I knew it might be a gamble getting it, so am not heartbroken over it.

I got very bad staining on clothes when I dropped a bottle of liquid Ericaceous plant food containing Sulphate of Iron. Basically, it caused a massive and impossible to remove rust stain that embedded in my clothes. I tried a cold wash immediately. Then a very hot wash. I tried Vanish and soaked them for hours. I soaked also tried soaking them in 50:50 white vinegar and water for 2-hours as one method claimed to remove rust stains. NOTHING was removing these stains. My last resort was to try 'Iron Out'. I added half a cup of the powder to the washing machine on an eco-cycle as it is longer and will allow the garments to soak for the min 5-mins contact time required. Within 1-2 minutes I had a sneaky check and the stains appeared to have had go. The first 3 pictures show the stain after 3 washes with Vanish and soaking in white vinegar and water. Both Vanish and vinegar were useless and did nothing. Last two images show after 2 washes with Iron Out. First wash 99% of stain removed. Just a very small faint stain on the jeans only in one area so I washed again and 100% stain removed. This product really works on rust stains. If you have ever got rust on your clothes or spilt plant food that contains ferrous oxide then you will know how difficult these stains are to remove.

Very good product againts well iron water. I even put a cap full in my white cloches washing to keep it white, scrub my bathtub and toilet too.

Worst ever product bought from Amazon. Spent rs. 1100 for this and a complete waste of money. Won't ever recommend anybody to buy this.can i give Zero rating?
