Surprised at the Reviews
I normally DON'T WRITE REVIEWS, but all the negative reviews caused me to write one because I think the poor reviews were an unfair evaluation of this product. When I first turned on the pointer I was pleasantly pleased it seemed fully charged but couldn't figure out the bizarre pattern of multi-light points when I was expecting a single beam of light. However, I soon realized I had to unscrew the end cover and remove it to get a single beam. I can't imagine an application for the multi-light option. I was amazed how bright it was and was puzzled at the many reviews that said it had a dim beam of light. The second thing I noticed was that the beam point was not real sharp. Instead it was about 4x larger than my previous pointers beam point at about 20 feet away. Again, I was surprised at the poor reviews on this because for "my" application of pointing it toward a PowerPoint screen about 10 ft away, it was ideal. My previous pointer was so sharp and fine that my audience had a hard time seeing it. I agree that the beams point is a little blurry but I see this as good because the point of light from this pointer would be larger and therefore easier for my audience to see what I was pointing at. I also like that it is rechargable instead of powered by batteries. The only concern may be that it did not come with the plug and the cable requires the older USB style power plug rather than the newer and smaller end that my iphone 13 uses. Fortunately I had several of my older plugs lying around so that was not a concern for me. I like that the power button is on the side rather than on the end like my old pointer and that it does not click "on" and "off" but rather you must hold it down while using it. This fits my use better because it automatically turns off when I take my thumb off the button. I also was puzzled at the plastic piece over the power button when I received it as I tried to figure out if I should leave it in place or take it off and keep it in the box just in case. I finally realized it was for shipping and was to protect the power button from being depressed during shipping so the pointer would arrive ready to use. I have yet to use it for a presentation but shining it around the house convinces me that I will really enjoy using this pointer. I did not look at the age of the other reviews and it might be the company rectified the intensity of the beam and I benefited from previous poor reviews. I hate to admit that I looked for an instruction sheet to figure some of this stuff out, but there was none :) Most people probably wouldn't need one but it did take me a little thinking to figure these things out. Overall, I think I will really enjoy this pointer.

Junk
This "star pointer" didnt go past the trees in my yard. A friend had one that literally pointed to a specific star. U could actually see the beam to infinety. This product was a joke. Basically a cat toy bcause it doesnt point to anything as far away as a star as advertized. Ill b insisting on a refund, i really dont think i should have to waiste my time & effort on returning this, its junk & needs to b thrown in the trash. This is the 3rd product iv got thru an amazon "store" that was junk & im really disapointed that Amazon doesnt have a standard of authenticity they require to protect their customers from getting rippd off. Im really considering closeing my acct with Amazon & not ever doing buisness with them again. Im sure theyll never miss me or my buisness but i can only hope enough people will get fed up with the lousy cust service & failure to monitor quality & priceing of the people selling products thru their site that they will stop doing buis with Amazon & it will affect their "bottom line" & these Corp Execs will lose their million dollar bonuses for screwing honest people out of their hardearnd pay. It has become Ok to rip off the public in this country. Nobody monitors that anymore. No better buisness ass, no nothing, its a free for all & that is WRONG! Shame on U Amazon for allowing this.

Good, but not what I expected. Beam isn't visible without particles. Not so good for sky pointing.
The media could not be loaded. This is Purple and acts almost like a black light laser. You can't see the beam unless you have smoke, steam... You can't see the dot very well if it doesn't hit something that reacts to UV light. Because of this black light feature, the dot can appear to be vastly different colors on different materials. Fluorescent colors the dot is really bright like white or blue/white, other times it's more blue looking. This explains all the comments about the colors and it being dim. There's an attachment on the tip that can be removed to get to a single beam, the size of this beam can be adjusted to be a big dot or screwed tight for a laser dot. I wish it screwed a little bit more because the dot could be a little sharper, my green one isn't like that so it's probably a slight variation in production, not a big deal.I don't recommend for sky watching since the beam is practically invisible on a clear night. Green is way better for that. Very lightweight.

I guess it's ok. No single beam pointer
I mistakenly thought that this product would transition from a single beam to other patterns, but it does not. If you were looking for this feature and couldn’t find it in the product description, now you know. Otherwise, the product functions well. It’s very lightweight but doesn't appear to be durable. I haven't tested the battery life yet, but it does charge.

Fascinating….
I purchased this with some qualms, but this was the best choice for what I was looking for. I prefer my pointers to be rechargeable because finding replacement batteries can be a pain for me. I would have preferred USB c as higher tech is nudging me away from USB a style options in my house. One of the more notable downsides of this laser pointer is that the dot isn’t as focused as I’ve seen in other pointers in the past—it’s less dot and more circle, no matter how I try to adjust it. Other reviews talk about how dim it is, and in some ways I agree. This is basically a black light laser pointer, so what you’re pointing at makes a difference…if you aim it at something that will fluoresce under black light, it is literally like night and day. So it does its job, just not how you’d expect compared to other laser pointers. Now let’s talk about the overall quality of the device. This one has a plastic body so it doesn’t feel as substantial as I’m used to. The rest of it seems to be fine though—everything is lined up, the screw pieces seem to work well, it’s just…well…plastic.
