I love a good simple biography, and this was it. This book follows Dolly Parton's humble beginnings to her rise to stardom. I found the story so fascinating that I couldn't put the book down. Appropriate for all ages. However, it would be best for upper elementary and middle school students.

Dolly had green eyes, not blue, & the illustrations are poor
The upside is the wealth of information that you don’t find in just one other book. The downside is the poor quality illustrations. Also, on page 64 Kelley writes a blurb about “Jolene” that is completely wrong. She does not take away someone’s sweetheart, she is simply a threat. Clearly the author doesn’t know Dolly’s music well AT ALL. Seriously. Edit that error out.
