Q: Is the frame removable?

I don't think it was designed to be removed... I think if you try to remove it, the mirror would break.

Q: what is the frame material made out of?

I believe it is resin. I had to paint it because it looked like the antique gold chemical process went wrong leaving a white powdery substance in crevices.

I can see the back distorting but it should be fine. It’s also really heavy so I would really secure it. I actually just leaned it on a built in shelve at an angle. It’s a really beautiful mirror though.

The mirror has 2 D hooks on the back of the piece for hanging. We do not recommend hanging the mirror with a wire. It does not come with a wire to hang.
