Well worth the price
I'm using it to wire wrap resistors to model railroad power pickup wheels. I have some wire wrap tools for 28-30 gauge wire which are too small to fit over the posts on the wheels. This works great. Zip...Zip and you're done.I know it's expensive, but it will work where the little hand tools won't and you can select the bits you need for different wire gauges.

Probably the best one available these days
The days of finding an an inexpensive electric wire wrap tool is long gone, so this is probably the most any of us will spend for a tool like this. It seems rugged enough, and will probably work well and consistently.Be aware this is just the base tool. It's like buying a drill without bits. It's not usable on its own.So yes, you need a bit, something like a Jonard KB224, which is the part the goes inside the tool and spins. And of course, you'll also need need a sleeve which is the sheath for the bit, and has the hole where you insert the wire to be wrapped. So expect to spend another $75-100 (depending on the gauge) minimum to make this usable. And of course, each wire gauge requires a different bit, and probably a different sleeve.... you get the idea. Now, there's nothing wrong with that; good tools are expensive, but you need to be aware of this before you order, because if you're just starting, this is really a $220 tool once you add in what you need.Overall it's good, and it's probably a bit overpriced since the days of wire-wrapping seem to be gone. But even if you're a novice , as long as you're set up properly for the gauge of wire, this makes it pretty easy.I knocked off a star because for this price, an unwrap setting would've been a nice touch.

can't wire wrap without accessories
Tue 11/13/2012 3:51 pm. I have no idea how it works because, as shown, it *can't wire wrap*. ... Because I'm an idiot, I didn't notice *it won't do that* unless I buy the two accessories under the "Frequently Bought Together" heading which, for this product, ought to be titled "*Necessarily* Bought Together". I am so innocent, I just assumed a $100 wire-wrapping gadget would be able to wire-wrap! ... So the price for this object is not really as shown, but is in fact the $173.02 in the Frequency Bought Together section. Be warned.

Does ideal wire wraps each time
I am using it for circuit boards with 30awg , not telecom work. Works fast and excellent. I also use jonard st-100 wire stripper that cuts and strips the correct length for wire wrap.
